KM spoke to KLASS NYC Rep. FO. We asked him if he thinks Klass is worth $10,000 for a festival. This is what he told us.
FO: "Why not? We have to be fair and analyze things. If KLASS is going to bring people to the festival; and it is proven that they are doing very well on the market right now; I don't see why not? Let me give you an example. If you have a festival that you are going to charge $30 to $40 or more for it, and it brings out 15 to 20 thousand people...you can do the math and see how much money the festival is going to make. So why should it be a problem for Klass to get a fair percentage of $10,000?
Here is another example. If you have to bring in a band from Haiti; you can say that tickets alone are going to cost you at around $3000 to $4000. Then you have to add the asking price/fee of the band. Let's say the band demands $5000; you are already at $9000 right there for a band from Haiti. If KLASS is the most popular band right now and ask $10,000; I really don't see where the problem is."
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: What do you say to those that say that Klass makes more sense to ask that price for a party because it's THEM playing by themselves; instead of a FESTIVAL, where SEVERAL BANDS are playing and are bringing in fans as well....where they are NOT the only ones bringing the people.
FO: "I will tell you why. For a regular party; let's say if 2000 people is the maximum; if you charge $10,000 for that, that would have to be a bit more balanced out in terms of the price. But let's say you are doing a party or festival at a Madison Square Garden or somewhere that can bring MORE than two thousand people; take a look at the profit that the promoter can make if they sell tickets. Right there for something like that, I think it is fair and justified for the asking price if a band like Klass is able to bring people to your shows. It's just a matter of balancing things out. It's only fair that if the band has many fans that will show up at the shows to come and support; they must be compensated for that."
