Mhmm I think Phillip was thinking more about tempo when he answered that question. Klass is not Great with fast up tempo songs, but when it comes to mid-tempo songs I don't think anybody is playing better than them right now. This brings me to the criteria for a great Konpa Direct Band. To me it's all about chord progression , the bass line and the "Ban Deye". 1/2 vs. 4/4.
The great System Band never played really fast (up tempo) but you'd be a fool to tell me they weren't playing great KONPA DIREK. Konpa Kreyol On the other Hand, Even Carimi now, don't play hardcore Konpa.
Richie's way of playing has nothing to do with how pure Klass Music is. I disagree with Pipo on that.
I also believe Djakout is playing solid Konpa Direk, the only issue right now is that their sound is tired.
Here's my opinion:
Up-tempo:Nulook/ Djakout/ Zenglen with Dano (abt 6 months ago, go listen to Tempo from their last live set in Martinique)
Mid-tempo: Klass /Nu look/Disip (before Dano)
