Mwen panse ke KompaRed bay repons la deja. SE YON KESYON DE MENTALITE.

Nou menm nan Diaspora a, depi group la nouvo oubyen nou pa tande pale de li, nou pa prale ladan li.

Back home, moun ki pa gen kob pou al nan bal, depi on statyon radyo pral bay on nouvo group, yo chanje statyon an pou y'al tande on lot mizik ke yo konnen oubyen on group ke yo konnen deja. NOU GEN ON PROBLEM DAPRESYASYON. La majorite ayisyen pa konn apresye.

Gade koman mizik rasin nou an toujou reprezante an Almay, an Beljik, o Japon. Moun sa yo pa menm konprann sa n'ap chante a. Men rythm lan nouvo pou yo, e yo soti y'al apresye li. Men pa nou menm.

Yanvaloo, the answer is simple to say ... the practice of it is a bit hard. But ... it is what it is.

DISCLAIMER ... I'm not saying what I'm about to say because I am against "Ti Dyazz", Youyou (of Zin now) and myself had been a member of Zoom (considered Ti Dyazz) for 7-10 years dealing with all these problems before we got out of that unfortunate cycle ...

One thing- By being hard to accept Ti-Dyazz even playing with Big Bands for promotional purposes, the HMI is purging itself off a lot of trashy little bands that would flourish at every corner, dragging the already alarming low level of our secular Konpa music even lower. That attitude does serve as a maintenance filter against more musical pollution.

Second thing- That attitude forces new band to be less parasitic. You can't just gather a couple of your friends to play with you under a band name and expect to be given exposure without any work or with no $$$ spent. Whatever happens to "tu mangeras grace à la sueur de ton front."? People need to realize that it is as important to get the business aspect locked down with a management/promotion/distribution crew (whether new or contracted) as it is to find musicians to start a band. Don't expect favors, PLAN your success both musically and from a business/marketing standpoint or ... you should not be counted as a player.

Third thing- The established Bands know that they lack novelty, creativity and new sounds ... which can be easily found in new upcoming Ti Dyazz. If they allow those T-Dyazz to perform in front of their public, they are risking to lose years and years of hard owrk and humiliation worth of dollars for a couple of guys who have invested or contributed nothing yet to the industry and in whom they have no vested interest. So why risking hardly won fans to people you don't care about? Se kòm si y ap chèche pwòp frèt pou kale tèt yo. Therefore, that "defensive" attitude is also a survival tactic.

Ti Dyazz need to know those things. No one had it easy. A bunch of guys playing music doesn't make a band. You've got to have money or people with money backing you up. Or ... just stay home or keep rehearsing in basements for the next hundred years.

The HMI is more a business than just an entertainment platform. You can NOT enter it AVEC YON KWI NAN MEN W! I may sound harsh, but I'm telling it like it is. Be prepared or stay home.
