DANO ZENGLEN sent us this note. He wanted to make a point about something brought up by a KM Member. Read below.



DANO: "Hey Pat, I would like to add something to the discussion about Jay Brooklyn saying that Zenglen can't play the songs that Richie produced etc,.

I've had the honor of producing an album (5eme vitesse) with the man and he is God's gift to Haitian music, but I think it's very rudimentary for an educated and well respected individual (menm le mwen menm a toro an Nou pa bien lol) like Jay Brooklyn to make such a statement. Richie was working in Zenglen and he got paid for the work that he did in Zenglen so business wise Richie is the producer of the songs but ZENGLEN owns every single song that came out under the name ZENGLEN. I love to play them cause they are awesome songs. Richie was simply doing his job and he got paid for it.

Chris Bangle was a designer for BMW now he works for Audi, does that mean BMW can no longer sell the cars designed by Chris or needs permission from Bangel to sell the BMWs that he designed? NOPE....cause BMW card belongs to BMW just like ZENGLEN songs belongs to ZENGLEN...

Dano, great point but the way the HMI is currently structured both Richie and Zenglen have equal rights to play songs written by Richie. But I have a problem with Brutus taking cheap shots/ jabs at Richie/ Klass at another post when he insinuated or implied that Klass couldnt beat NL due to NL 's long list of songs. I do have an issue with that statement because technically all the songs that Richie have written on Zenglen's albums he could have used any of them. My point is, If Richie wanted to; he could have played any of his songs he wrote while in Zenglen, but he CHOSE not to. So technically Klass has 2 albums worth of songs they could have played at Bal if Richie wanted to go that way.

Richie produced the songs for zenglen but he did sell the rights dano. The songs belong to richie if zenglen were to collect royalties for Richie songs, they could be prosecuted. Yes they have ghe right to perform them but the rights belong to Richie and his family. Bann roulibè!

Well said Dwet san zo. Richie worked for zenglen and was made a haitian music legend Through Zenglen.
Zenglen came out in 1989 and Richie joined in 1997 or 1998 , thats almost 9 years later.
Zenglen had already produced they're greatest album: An nou alez!

P.S Zenglen's Real MVP will always be Pe Brut.

DANO: "I never said Richie couldn't perform the songs that he produced in Zenglen; that would be something retarded to say, my thing was against people saying that ZENGLEN is not supposed to play songs that Richie produced which also belongs to Zenglen.

All Brutus is saying is that no matter how u put it, it would be Klass Performing Zenglen songs that Richie produced vs Nu-look performing Nu-Look songs that Arly L. produced...no matter how much of a fan you are or how much u disagree with me, it's still would be Klass interpreting Zenglen songs against Nu-Look...don't get me wrong to me it's not a problem, but that's just the way it is!

Bref, any songs that klass plays that's not on a klass album is an interpretation...Period."
