NU LOOK maestro ARLY LARIVIERE wants to know "A KI LA FAUTE" in terms of why the bal numbers are going down in the HMI.

ARLY was telling me today...

ARLY: "Even though it has not affected us NU LOOK so far, but it is still a major problem that concerns us all. WHY ARE BAL NUMBERS GOING DOWN? What is the problem? Maybe the fans can help us musicians/promoters understand what the issue is because no one seems to have the solution. Back in the days in Florida, we could actually have 3 bals in the same state without having to worry about if they were going to have good turnouts. NOU TE GINDWA FE 3 BAL NAN MINM WEEKEND NAN...NAN MINM TOWN NAN, ou bien fe 2 nan minm town nan, epi fe gwo bal Samedi a Orlando. Tout Bal yo tap bon. Not now.I know that we might hear some of the same things like BANDS STARTING LATE...but what about when FANS COME LATE TO THE BALS? Should we start the bals despite that fact? SE POU FANATIK YO PALE AVE'M JODI A....BAY NOU VRE REZON AN."
_________________________________________________________

ARLY LARIVIERE tap pale ak Kompa Magazine jodi a, e li di nou konsa ke SE POU PEUP AYISIEN AN BAY LI VERITE AN jodi a. ARLY vle konen ki vre pwoblem ki fe ke CHIF BAL YO AP PEDE DESAN'N KONSA NAN TOUT HMI LA.

ARLY: "Back in the days in Florida, JAZ TE GINDWA FE 3 BAL NAN MINM WEEKEND NAN...NAN MINM TOWN NAN, ou bien fe 2 nan MIAMI an, epi fe gwo bal Samedi a Orlando. Tout Bal yo tap bon. Not now. Ou gin promoteu kap di'w ke ou paka jwe nan town nan 1 semaine ou 2 semaines anvan bal li a....paske yo vle garanti ke kob yo an ap fet. KI PWOBLEM NAN KOUNIEN AN. A KI LA FOT?"

KM!

Very Hard to say

Im sure he have something in mind, he could have share .

But for me , Although i hear a lot of them i rarely attend anymore.

It's same old Stuff , Bal are now like Concerts setting and voye' monte'
..that i never like.
Can't get into fan coming late stuff but it's a requisite to play if promoter
say you start @ 10pm ...!0 it is regardless.
Also if you hear the Bands it's almost the same Repertoire week in and
week out. Having 2 or 3 band format don't help at all .

Reason ...well they have to go with their best to impress and at time some of their best is 4 , 5 , 6 years removed . So unless you want to go ou and go
drink and hang out why go out .

That's all i Have for now... but while i'm at it ....

If he's not affected (Nu-Look) , 1 of my Fav band (Gabel) on an other post
saying the same . I'm sure Carimi will say the Same
T-Vice mi'm se pa pale' ...With Kreyol la still Hot ....

So hmphhh What's the problem then ?

A Qui la Faute here Back at you Maestro ?

For me the answer is the same problem that every single entity of commerce is facing...Technology, technology, TECHNOLOGY!!!!

and I'm not talking about bands using or not using MPCs either Laughing Laughing

The ease and access that the internet affords has made consumers oversaturated with access and insight to the HMI and its activites...and the ones that know how to use technology such as Km, facebook, twitter, youtube..etc. can benefit...and those that are not taking advatage of it are being victims of it.

For instance...back in the 90s kote ou te ka gentan tande Live music yon bal within 24hrs (if not sooner) after it happened...

Si radio poko anonse li kote ou tap konnen artist A gen pwoblem avek djazz li epi li pap performe anko

Why would someone pay $30 sometime $40 chak weekend pou al tande yon djazz jwe live...ler (depi yo gen kontak) yo gen yon CD ki gen music live bal kote yo ka tande tout nouovo groove ke djazz la ap jwe konyea.

The overall "live" experience can be had by sitting infront of your computer watching youtube or blasting your home stereo.

Does it fully compare to being there live in person? Hell No...but when you take into account cost for bal tix, outfits, drinks, and etc. the stay at home experience is not too bad.

Going to Disagree with you here.....

While there are some truth to what you saying , but Live Bals is not as easy to find as they use to be .

Maybe some youtube link here and there but it's not the same feeling as the whole bal .
Youtube you will find 1 song , 2 songs 4min to 10 min if not less ...if that float your boat so be it ...But those bals are not out there anymore .

Calculated by the bands or not ?

that's an other thing . an other debate.

As for me if they thing think that's what going to make me comeback well yo fek kare' boycote' Wink Wink

On bagay tre simp band yo vle se promoter yo ki pou loose ki pa fair at all so si'w konin bagay yo hard deyo pou ki le on promoter rele nou nou pa di ok an work out on the price and if things turn out great for the promoter la jere djazz la. And now tout kote gin zouk ak $10 so Li pa fasil pou on moun ap tale $25/30 pou bal e si ginyin ki Peye Li promoter a still pedi but bands no no matter what se kale yo lajan yo!!!

Yanvaloo,

Maybe to your standards its harder to get live bals now as from before...but for me and I'm sure others up until 5-6 years ago, the only time you heard music from bals was on the haitian radio station....now like i said with 24hrs ou ka jwen music live yon bal ki te fer the night before...and video sometimes within hours of the event.

i read your reply and your overall belief is that the bal experience is not the same...feels like a concert...djazz yo ap jwe menm ti bagay la

lontan djazz yo te ka viv sou yon albom pou 3ans san grate tet...now we have access to everything 24hours and a new album within 6months becomes old.

1.We’re living in a recession world right now but the HMI promoters/ bands are so greedy, they’re still charging fans $30 or $40 for bal.

2.The HMI are too predictable, the bands plays the same tracks every week-end. They need to starts adding new flavors to the tracks and starts playing one or two old hit songs from previous albums.

3.If the bands starts playing on time, believe me the fans will starts showing up on time… good example everyone knows Septen and Tropicana always starts early, it doesn’t matter if the venue is empty, they will start playing… Guess what whenever Tropicana or septen is playing by 10:30 pm the place is already pack

So as a result: lower the admission; add new different flavors to the tracks, play 1 or 2 old songs and starts early no matter what…
