What do you guys think about that!

Based on the positive feedback about the carnival being hosted by "Les Cayes", it seems that many other big cities may have the capacity to organize the annual national carnival.

What if the government used that event as a local development tool?

A lot of people doubted about the ability/capacity of "Les Cayes" to host the carnival. Now with this success, we can say that other major cities can do the same.

In this case, the government can put together a permanent carnival committee ( or 5year term for the committee). Every year each administrative city of the different regions would submit their candidacy to host the upcoming carnival organization.

Through this, they can show that their city has a capacity to welcome thousands of people, they define the route for the float parade, talk about their road/electricity/hotel infrastructures, describe their budget and what supposes to be done in term of infrastructure before the event.

Then based on their well presented project and the policies pre-defined by the carnival committee, the carnival committee will pick up six months earlier the next major city that will host the upcoming carnival.

I think by this way, many mayors would work harder to develop and expose to the world their region. At certain point, this will contribute widely to centralize Port-au-prince and to focus on sustainable development.

I think that is exactly what it should be.

I think the cities should bid on it like we do here for the SUPERBOWL.

Word is that au cap gen tan ap mande'l.

What gives Aux Cayes an advantage over CAP HAITIEN AND JEREMIE is that the streets are bigger and it's easier to get there.

It's next to impossible to get to JEREMIE.

Siwo is right, access is key here.
towns like gonaives, jacmel, ( les cayes ), st-marc...have a better shot at hosting the carnival in the near future.
never been there but i heard the streets in cap haitien are a little too narrow, could be a major problem for them

Siro and Doncue, Even though the roads are too narrows and can be a problem. This should be part of the mayors/cities project to host the carnival.

They can identify places/routes for the float parade with minor inconvenience. Or request to re-build/fix some of their roads/route. At this point, in the budget they say how much money the city can bring up to contribute to fix the roads and how much they'll require from the government. They can push also the local private sector to get involved in this>

Mwen remen idé sa too...
Se menm jan yo fè pou OLYMPIC GAMES.

Si ou bezwen Ville ou chwazi fok ou ka vann li bien.
É jan SYRO di a si pa gen route ou deja pa landann.

Sa-k bon an...
Menm si yo pa ta chwazi on ville.
Belle bagay yo fè pou atiré komité a pou chwazi ville la ap tou rété.
So toute ville ki kandida yo pap gen chwa levé pyé yo...

Certainement se avantage sa a ki genyen le ou mete ville yo en competetion. Menm ke vil ou pa retenu pou carnival la. Preparation ou deja fe pou atire comite a contribuer largement nan developement zone ou. donc developpement pays a tou.

Great Idea... I hope they're taking notes.
And if they choose to do it this way, I hope they do it fair and there's no bribery we all know how haitians are.

Great point Neg2byen, it's unfortunate we have to make it but let's not be naive about this.

Great point Syro.

Great post indeed.
