 |
|
I think it can be said that having the kanaval OKAY was a positive for a lot of reasons, especially given that it raised the profile of the city to the international community as well as those at home, and also in the process, bringing an economic boom to all the local businesses over there.
How about we continue that trend NEXT YEAR by taking the kanaval in February to ANOTHER popular town that is able to handle it. I am sure there are several candidates that can handle it.
*CAP-HAITIEN
*GONAIVES
*LEOGANE
*TI GOAVE
*GRAND GOAVE
*MIREBALAIS
*AQUIN
*HINCHE
*PORT DE PAIX
*PORT SALUT
With of course bringing it back EVERY SUMMER in the capital like they are planning to do it this year.
What do you think?

Maybe because I'm not a big kanaval head...I fail to see the point why would you do another one in the summer...but
I hope tht this event helps propel change in the way Haiti does things...PAP is the capital for sure and has the resources and venues to always hold grand events..however its time to put those resources in other areas that can do just as well if given the opportunity.
I think there should be a bidding process (much like they do with the olympics) or something where cities bid for the right to host kanaval. Not only would it provide an infusion on the local econmy...it will also light a fire in the local officials and citizens to take more pride in their cities to improve. |

The Olympics, NFL Super Bowl, NBA All Star Game are held annually in different locales. Every year each locale places a bid and makes a presentation as to why they should host the respective event.
As long as the prospective hosting city has the logistics to handle an international carnival, then I think its a great idea.
It gives each city an opportunity to generate income. _________________ "Mrs. Jones, we got a thing going on...." |

Very good idea. Let different cities and or departments bid for the opportunity
To have kanaval in their town. I think that will help with the reconstruction process

Pat, I am all for that idea.
I think this is golden an opportunity for us to showcase our beautiful country to the world and more importantly a way to implement some solid infrastructure for those provinces i.e. (Roads, Hotels, transportations, energy, restaurants) that would have a lasting impact economically.

I concur I think the success in Aux Cayes has allowed this idea to take flight and I hope it happens and it will give PAP a chance to prioritize and instead focus on clean up/infrastructure and helping the people who have been displaced by the quake. _________________ Music is love in search of a word.

It's a great idea.
In this case the mayors and the other places representatives would have to present a project to the government. It's a huge economical boost for Haiti. This year Le Cayes won big. I heard the city is cleaner now and i believe that will tremendously with the coming Gele Festival.
Now it's time to work, Haiti bezwen dekole. _________________
