The HMI NEW YORK SCENE got a little kick in the behind with KARIZMA finally making their grand premiere last night. Let me break it down for you KM RAW STYLE.

*POTENTIAL: The group has a lot of potential. I do mean A LOT. There are some kinks here and there that need to be adjusted, but having said that, I believed they delivered and probably surpassed the expectations of many with their performance last night. It shows that they have been spending countless of hours at rehearsal with some of the tracks that they played.

*BRIGHT STAR OF THE BAND: Guitar player and band leader J.R no doubt is a magnet with his...excuse the pun CHARISMA. Not only does he know how to play the guitar, and also with the very important COMMERCIAL COMPAS STYLE, he is also very active in the front with his choreography, and always seems like he is having a good time. Now I can see why he was very excited during the KM video Interview that some of our fans criticized him about...it was simply because he couldn't wait to get on that stage to start. I guess he knew what he had to offer musically, and he certainly was one of the main highlights of the group last night. KEEP ON BEING YOU and you will make it far in the business bro.

*IMPRESSIVE VOICE: I was very very impressed with the MUSICAL STAGE LEADER in keyboardist ROODY (Hope I spelled the name right)..not only with his keyboard playing, but amazingly with his VOICE when I heard him sing 2 songs. He has an amazing voice LIVE....the best voice in the group actually. He also controls the musical repertoire of the band. There was a fast tempo song that they played last night towards the end "ZIN PETE...KARISMA LAGE", I was taking pleasure in listening to all the small drum machine parts that was going on under the music. I know it wasn't the drums or gong doing all of that. Keep it up bro....KARIZMA should everything to hold on to you at any cost.

*VOCALIST EMMERY: I've said it before that EMMERY has a lot of the ingredients in place to become one of the top frontmen in the business in future years. I was actually surprised when I first heard his voice when I first got in the place. It has matured a lot. He seemed a little bit nervous at first...not with his voice, but with the EXPRESSIONS ON HIS FACE at times as he was singing, but as the night went along, he settled down and took command of the festivities.

*THE BAND: I stood there to take time and LISTEN to what was coming out of the speakers for most of the songs, and for a first performance OFFICIALLY, it was pleasant. It was DAMN PLEASANT and I could see many people bopping their heads to the music throughout the night like myself. MORE PRACTICE is still in order of course, but there is no doubt that KARIZMA IS READY FOR PRIMETIME. The BASS PLAYER is doing his thing up front as well.

I had a great time, and I look forward to catching the group again LIVE to see if they will progress from last night.

*BAD MOVE MOVEMENT: Even though it was all in fun, the guys threw a few jabs playfully at TEMPO guitar player TI WILL about his "JAZZ FACEBOOK" comment on KM from a few months ago. TI WILL was in attendance...unfortunately for KARIZMA, he had already left long ago after they started making that jab. I guess they were just having fun...but since it is YOUR FIRST OFFICIAL PERFORMANCE...NOU TE KA KITE TI SA for further down the line.

*BAD MOVE MOVEMENT #2: For some unexplained reason, they shut off the lights on the stage during the band's performance of the last couple of songs. I am not sure why, but that certainly did not help in terms of people that were filming the band on stage...which would have given more exposure to the band. No one from the band and/management did anything about it....and they saw that filming was going on. Maybe it was KARIZMA who turned the lights off for some reason?

KARIZMA has been knocking on the door, and from what I heard last night...THEY OPENED THE DOOR for them to be invited inside the party known as the HMI. ONE PERFORMANCE does not mean that you are actually INSIDE THE ROOM where the party is happening, but it certainly has gotten the attention of the people AT THE DOOR OF THE HMI PARTY. It's now up to KARIZMA to GET THEMSELVES INVITED TO THE DANCE...so their next set of performances will decide if that happens or not.

***WARNING**** STAY ACTIVE on the HMI scene. Do NOT let the buzz die down after this grand premiere. We hope to see the group LIVE on the scene in a couple of weeks..and NOT in a FEW MONTHS.

BRAVO KARIZMA.....YOU'VE GOTTEN MORE OF MY ATTENTION (After my last post on the group before the premiere), and hopefully those of the "real" fans (Not friends of the band) will come very soon. YOU GUYS HAVE WHAT IT TAKES...KEEP ON DOING YOU!

PS: It was good to see CAREL PEDRE, NIVENS & THE YOUNG QUALITY party promotion crew, as well as TI WILL TEMPO, OZMOSIS, and the MELODI crew.

Here are a couple of snapshots from the event below

I was there for a little bit more than 90 minutes, but I left around 2 AM (I am not the man I once was in term of energy..)

I had the chance to listen to their first 3 songs (tantan, an original and a Krezi song). I will say it was better than what I expected.

They are young and they seem very enthusiastic. That alone can lead you far if you have the right discipline.

The singer sounded better than the last time I heard him. He kinda looked a bit scared in his facial expressions, but I'd rather see that than a singer who drinks to relax himself and then sings horribly... He should not turn his back too much to the crowd.... The ladies are there in part for him, he should maybe interact a bit more with them. The voice reminds me of a young Mika for some reasons...

The guitarist is the one the band should push more. He can play the instrument and he has some charm that the ladies will definitely appreciate. I expect them to feature him more in future performances. He reminds me of a young Steve in his Carimi days, just in terms of charisma and interaction with the crowd. He keeps working hard and he might very well end up being as good also.

Their energy masked some mistakes that more practice will eventually correct. In their own song (the 2nd song of their performance), the chord progression of the band do not work with the bass line at some moment in the song. They should definitely look into that.

With hard work and practice, they might have the potential to fill a void in the HMI scene in New York. They will need to play regularly in small venues to achieve a good notoriety and a fan base so that promoters start knocking at their doors. Take your time to get good and don't go for the big events with the big bands right away... improve first.

Thank you Rene for inviting me... I hope the boys will take my critics without anger and see if they are valid or not... I am far from being a connaisseur, but hopefully that can help them!!

Pat, sorry I did not see you in there... it would have been great to catch up!!
