This is what we got from CARIMI maestro RICHARD CAVE on the 2011 edition of LNDJ when we asked him.

RICHARD CAVE: "Patrick,

First, I would like to thank LNDJ for making the whole night a success. Last year, I complained about the sound company and they made a big effort this year to have a better system . I also have to say that they made a lot of improvement with the lighting system.

For those who were not back stage, I can tell you that each musician had their own dressing room and everything was perfect. Pa gen youn nan musician mwen ki ka plenyen.

One thing I have to mention is that the show had too many bands. While I understand that we have to showcase different artists, when you have too many it can kill the show. For example, CARIMI started playing at 2:15 and I had to end the show earlier to make sure that T vice had time to play. I did that because I knew that if i had played my entire set it would have affected the show negatively. Still T vice started at 3:35 am. Last year i played last and i started at 3 am. That shows you that some bands are playing too late now.

Personally, i had a great night. .THANKS AGAIN LNDJ"

In other words: GOOD SHOW but CRAPPY TIME MANAGEMENT. <---Haitian promoters' Achilles heel.

Suivre Compafest and ALL other MAJOR Haitian events, menm ti events yo tou. Bon, le se 3 dyaz, se GAGOT net.

And that's supposed to be the EASIEST and MOST BASIC aspect of a production. TONERRRR....

What if they were getting fined 10K for EVERY extra hour their shows go on?

Sa montre ke si menm ti sa nou PA ka fe, nou POKO poare pou big leagues yo

I would like to note that Rafrechi started the show at exactly 10.30pm and ended their half hour set at 11pm SHARP (Discipline at its best). At that time Harmonik, Carimi and T.Vice were NOT in the venue. Therefore Rafrechi did NOT contribute in no shape or form on the top bands not having the time to complete their entire sets as noted by Carimi and T.Vice’s band leaders. I wanted to make that point clear since both of them made notion of too many bands/acts in the show as if other bands/acts cause some kind of traffic jam. I can say the same thing for Fabrice Fombrum who was also early. I know that because he performed right after Rafrechi. So if the problem was with the artist from Cape Verde and Black Dada I think they should be address accordingly instead of saying something in general that is subject to have some kind of effect on others who made the effort on being on time
A show is a show and if any band feel that they have so much to showcase, they can always request that they play EARLY and made it known to their faithful fans that they will perform early in the program. Like I always said “Se pa lč’w jwe a….se jan’w jwe a”…and HARMONIK just proved that again last Saturday night….All this week, people talking about LNDJ are mostly talking about the surprised show by HARMONIK and the REVELATION of the night which was RAFRECHI….Jodi a se gwo jazz kap bay plenyen a….is it because the public is saying that it was nothing but the same old act coming from them…
Don’t blame others while you too have some kind of responsibilities towards the paying public. Next Time, mande pou jwe pi bonč ….it’s a five and a half hour show….you can always pick a better time TO WORK….After all it seems like playing (OH I MEAN WORKING) too late is not such a good idea since you always have to fight with TIME.
Let me just put it this way….LA FIEVRE LA PA NAN DRA….
