Mingo,
I notice how you focus onone part of a nearly two hour long debate.
But that's ok.
First I want to say it was a pleasure watching two haitian candidates discussing real issues instead of voye monte. At least some of the population who is more educated will be able to make an educated choice based on the issues.
The question posed to Michel Martelly about his lost assets shouldn't have been allowed by the moderator, only because it was not posed in a way that both candidates could respond. In fact I don't think Mme Manigat responded. How could she?
That question could have been handled more professionally by the journalist because we need reassurance from both candidates that they will be better than their predecessors in terms of managing public funds... not just Martelly.
Having said that, Martelly did not handle the question well either. He started to at first but when the Journalist insisted, he kind of went a little crazy. We all know Martelly has a little bit of a temper problem. That is a human problem. And it does not mean that he would make a bad president.
As far as the other questions, there were some that Martelly responded to very well, and others that Mme Manigat responded to very well.
But I found Mme Manigat's answers to be more global, more theoretical, and less specific. She knows the issues. But it doesn't seem that she has really sat down to think of any real concrete solutions.
Martelly's answers were more detailed, more concrete. Even though I might not agree with all of his plans but he seems to be more ready for action than Mrs. Manigat.
There were some very funny points in the debate, where the moderator accidentally reffered to Mrs. Manigat as Mrs. Martelly. And also after Mrs Manigat tried to respond to an accusation from Martelly, he responded
"Mais Mme Manigat vous avez un problem de minutes... vous rentrez dans mes minutes!".
I could not stop laughing.
Mme Manigat many times treid to play up her education, correcting Martelly on some constitutional terms and definitions.
Matelly tried many times to tie Mme Manigat to the leaders of the past and the failing system currently in place.
Mme Manigat's closing remarks centered more on the country.
Martelly focused more on himself as a candidate.
I liked Mme Martelly's beeter. Miartelly could have asked for the people's vote while centering more on the country as Mrs. Manigat did.
Over all, it was nice to watch. And I hope they will have at least two more on other issues before March 20th. |
Very good breakdown Syro....Very good....
In all fairness, I would like to say that Michel Martelly did GREAT in the debate...and that he really did his homework and delivered with precision...
I expected more from Manigat....Micky was the one who actually impress me the most. With regard to the journalist...he was told not to come up with personal issues and he find a way to slide it there and that was so unfair. Michel has every right to be upset....
I know too much about real estate to blame Michel for what happened to his properties...In fact I can only sympathize with him for losing his money....No matter what no businessman would like to loose to much money in so little time....
Manigat knows her stuff indeed...and what happened to her is the same thing that happen to people or football team that are too sure of themselves and in situation like that they got their behind kicked by the underdog....I was watching the debate with the idea that Martelly was going to be the underdog....but if you ask me I will put Michel Martelly as the WINNER because HE DELIVERED SOME HARD FACTS...WITH ACCURATE NUMBERS AND VERIFIABLE DATAS...
Michel Martelly showed to STaFF PoZé that inside the TETE KALE...there is more than 200% KAKA....
While his resumé didn't do much for me, but as an employer...I consider the debate as an INTERVIEW process and Michel did very well presenting his case....
My final verdict considering the level of education and experience in the field by the two people on the panel....I will say Michel Martelly is the winner...That's my position on the DEBATE...
STaFF PoZé proverb for the situation....RENDEZ A CEZAR CE QUI EST A CEZAR.... _________________ Did you read your "Konpa Encyclopedia" today... |

I was very proud last night... I enjoyed the debate.
Last night MARTELLY showed us that he put more work into this than MIRLANDE... he had examples of places and allocation of money for his programs.
On trades, he talked about RE-NEGOSYASYON avec importeurs pou bay produit national une chance.
Professeur a te calm and collected... li pale plis the rhetoric, plis dilatwa, plis dissertation ke concrete repons ak examp. Hopefully, nan next debate la, she will be more prepared. _________________ Knowledge Will Forever Govern Ignorance |

All i can say, it was nice to see two Haitian candidates sitting at the same table debating the problem of our country.
But, i would not want Michel to be president for just one simple fact.
He is presenting too many empty promises.
Madame Manigat is not the ideal candidate either.
The debate was fun to watch simply because it was something new.
But hey, let's wait for march 20th.
We all know Michel is very limited when it comes to things related to education. But neg was well-prepped. il se debouillait tres bien. Let's give him that. _________________ Alon bel fraz sa. Devan byen deye malllll. |

Siwomyel,
I was listening to the debate for the first time this morning while Radio Kiskeya was replaying it. So, while I was posting the debate was still going on.
I might have come hard on Micky for being to arrogant during the first part, especially when he was going at the journalist. It's the journalist's job to clear up all speculation and get the fact straight.
Overall, Micky answered most of the questions to the best of his capabilities. He shines in some areas for going out there or sending his staff out there to find out some of the real problems. _________________ The views/opinions that I express on KM are strictly and solely those of MINGOLOVE, the HMEI personality, and should not be associated in any way with my membership in any other fields nor be held against me in any matter not related to entertainment. |

I do agree we may not be dealing with an ideal situation here but Haiti is not an ideal country either. Manigat did put holes showing Micky knowledge on certain issues here I am not going lie. But what really pisses me off with Manigat, she is more capable of explaining and articulating ideas and knows the law. But she prefers to play that game I blame Preval for creating. The game of giving no promises so in return you can say I promise nothing. That is a problem because promises in a sort of way is your agenda, what you are intending to do.
At least with Micky he started to articulate a position, whether they are conceivable or not that is left to be seen but I know what is government is intending to accomplish. Manigat, well she agreed with Micky on 100% of what he wanted to do then she offered nothing different or for that matter nothing at all.
I respect your viewpoint and understand where you are coming from though. But here are the choices and you know what if there is another debate I will say to Micky brother you better brush up on the law and diplomacy because I suspect Manigat's camp will throw the book at you. Be prepared because there are things I can see she does to make Micky look bad. _________________ Statehood or Bust |

Staff thanks for your honesty I like the fact that you kept it real. Martelly did his homework which made me proud.
"Mais Mme Manigat vous avez un problem de minutes... vous rentrez dans mes minutes!".
I can't get enough of these lines. |

It was a good debate. Manniguat didn't impose herself and what she said during the debate, you can barely remember what solution she gave for any problems asked. Micky was more detailed and gave more facts. In the question of agriculture and decentralisation, he just killed it. He talked about how the government money was misused and how much profit can be gain from it. They are long term issues but they should be resolved, that already is progress.
In the question of relocation, Micky was more active. he talked about building houses other places where there will be schoolsand hospitals, inviting the people to take part in the building process. That way you give people an environment which will invite them to move out.
Manniguat was more like she will talk to the people and ask them if they want to relocate, what they need, where they would want to go.... That paying special attention to each individuals died, it's time to take action and create opportunites for the people.

We all expected way more from Mannigat, so even if she won the debate, but alot of people will say she lost.
Mirlande, pou moun pa di lap choute sou Micky trop te yon ti jan tro cool relax. Manmzel pat agresiv menm.
Micky kom dabitud te agressiv epi choute anpil sou madanm lan...
Gen yon bann kesyon serye Micky pa reponn, li just di "oh pa gen se si, pa gen se la" but li pa bay okenn jan li pral chanje sa... Avek yon bann promes ou ka we ki pa reyalistik pou yon manda 5 ane.
Mannigat tou pat reponn anpil kesyon byen nonpli, li te pale tro broad... Mirlande Manigat |

GENTLEMAN, you are wrong and late nan zafè Haute cour de Justice sa..
Mirlande Manigat was not correct when she corrected Michel.
Mrs Manigat stating that the senate is the high court was wrong.
Michel Martelly stated that there is no High Court because we do not have a vice president of the supreme court.
Here is article 185 de la constitution de 1987
The High Court of Justice
ARTICLE 185:
The Senate may constitute itself as a High Court of Justice. the proceedings of this Court are presided over by the President of the Senate, assisted by the President and Vice President of the Supreme Court as Vice President and Secretary, respectively, except where the Justices of the Supreme Court and officers of the public Prosecutor's Office assigned to that court are involved in the accusation, in which case, the Senators, one of whom shall be designated by the accused, and the Senators so appointed shall not be entitled to vote.
ARTICLE 185
_________________ Knowledge Will Forever Govern Ignorance |
