A few weeks ago I received a few notes in the mail from former SWEET MICKY keyboardist/maestro STEPHANE GILLES. A lot of hype he is doing or trying to do about his upcoming group. Upon checking it out, I was flabbergasted about what I heard, and I simply could not understand/believe what was happening.

IT IS MY IMPRESSION/UNDERSTANDING that many SWEET MICKY/MICHEL MARTELLY tracks are being "redone" or like they say "YAP REMANIE YO" in order for STEPHANE's new group to play them live and keep the legacy of SWEET MICKY alive on the HMI music scene. I HOPE THAT I AM WRONG....but please, please, please, please MICHEL and STEPHANE....I AM BEGGING YOU....DO NOT MESS WITH THE LEGACY OF ONE OF THE HMI's biggest superstars to ever hit the scene.

If SWEET MICKY is not able to get back on the stage like before due to his political career, LET IT BE. Leave the people with the memories that they used to have of MICHEL MARTELLY ON THE STAGE doing his thing. Yes it is ok to play a couple of SWEET MICKY tunes in your set like many other bands used to do years ago when interpretation was the norm in the HMI; but PLEASE ....DO NOT PUSH THE NEW GROUP AS A SWEET MICKY JUNIOR type of thing. STEPHANE is too talented of a musician to be reduced to a musician trying to keep the legacy of an HMI icon. STEPHANE should star FRESH with his band and bring something NEW on the HMI scene. BRING YOUR OWN THING!!!!!! As far as MICHEL MARTELLY, we will remember you for all that you've done in the HMI (Good and bad), however, one thing that no one can ever take away from you is that you did a lot for the business/music, especially the time that you came into the business with the "OULALA" CD & VIDEO.....

I agree with you! As talented as Stephane is, I think this is the wrong way to start a new band, he does a good job with interpreting Micky, which I would not mind he adds in his repertoir drung the live performances, but to actually coming out with Micky's songs to start your band is wrong. I know deeply in Michel Martelly's heart, "he is not too fond of the bad boy image he was customed to", which in return has caused bumpy roads in his Presidency Campaign. I hope Stephane does not go around and using profane languages to keep up Micky's Legacy, cause he is only destroying it and at the same time destroying his ownself. I wish Stephane will reconsider this move.

The O-N-L-Y way Stephane could and SHOULD go this way about is plans, is with the PUBLIC BLESSING OF MICHEL MARTELLY (calls to the media from BOTH of them at the same time etc) and with a LOT of HUMILITY DISPLAY on Stephane's part, se pa fe rizib pale de "bad boyz this bad boyz that), se mete GNB ou, chache INSPIRATION ou epi gas kole...

When Micky came out, he sounded like NO ONE ELSE, it was even considered taboo to listen to his live performances (up until today I would never DARE to listen to some LIVE Micky in front of my parents or older people ke nou rele pesonaj yo)...

He went AGAINST the norm, AGAINST the grain... Ou menm, you're just RIDING THE WAVES... Get off his ummm.... "waves"... WE KNOW THAT, so we don't see you as a FLAG/GUIDON CARRIER, but rather a PARASITE, a LEECH sucking the blood out of Michel's legacy, just like Nu System, Disip (making TONS of money off NU LOOK's catalog), Djakout #1... YES, mwen **** di'l... (it would have been HARDER for them to star a band with a NEW NAME, it's called BRAND RECOGNITION

Al chercher INSPIRATION, then, with devotion, motivation and hard work, you WILL EARN the masse's respect. Until then, you are and WILL ALWAYS BE: JUNIOR

I am NOT blasting Stephane at all. It's a PUBLIC PLEA to both MICHEL MARTELLY and STEPHANE.

PS: By the way, I AM POSITIVE that STEPHANE does have the blessing of Michel. He is a respectful guy who would NOT do something like that without Michel's blessing. I GIVE HIM THAT CREDIT!!!!!!!
