Haiti popular radio personality EVENS JEAN says that CARIMI is suffering from the same thing that TABOU suffered in Haiti.

EVENS JEAN "YO PA JANM CHO VRAIMENT EN HAITI. They haven't really been extremely hot in Haiti. YO SUBI SA TABOU SUBI EN HAITI A. They have a lot of respect in Haiti for what they have done, but THEY DON'T HAVE what you call FANATIC "FELLE". I think all that has to do with the fact that THEY PLAY MORE OUTSIDE OF HAITI (Yo jwe plus a l'exterieur). Don't get me wrong, I WOULD DO THAT TOO if I were in Carimi's shoes, but I think because of that, they've fallen into the same category as TABOU, which was good for them OUTSIDE OF HAITI, but NOT in Haiti."

I wouldn’t know about Tabou Combo, but even if that notion was true, it doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for Carimi since they have been proven to be insanely successful within nine years.

Bon mwen pa kwe Evens Jean konn sa lap pale a. Le album aux Antilles et kitem fe zafem soti, pagen on band ki te pi hot pase Tabou in Haiti . I was about 12 years old when tabou went to Haiti in 1990. Tabou combo shut down infrasa. And the concert was live on radio Superstar. That was the first time I saw that . In 1991 they pretty much had the same impact.

Guys/Ladies

TABOU's popularity according to some, took a severe hit in Haiti due to their support of a Haitian candidate that ended up not being popular with a lot of people. Many said that they never really recovered from that in Haiti. Maybe that should be taken into account.

tabou had some issues, but not to the extent evens jean has said it
tabou had some issues after the bal they played for mac bazin
Before that, tabou was fine
in terms of carimi, i am wondering, what are the causes>
Maybe, evens could elaborate a bit more

JC, even giventhat tabou was not as popular as skah sha, it doesn't mean they weren't popular at all...

I remember as a little kid in Haiti when taboualbums first came out they use to be blasting every where. I mean videos and everything.

But ... even if tabou were not popular ... let's say they weren't and it was for the reasons that even jean gave, I fail to see how CARIMI is suffering form the same fate because CARIMI is very popular in Haiti.

You don't get to have two back to back successful carnival seasons without being popular in a country.
