You mean their old stuff still sound more advanced than what's being released on the market today despite the fact that they've on the market for a long time.

Even then, what do you mean by more advanced tho?

I don't see many of today's bands which I could compare them to. Definitely not Konpa, Racines, Rap Kreyol or our solo artists.

My bad if I didn't get the question.

They are an haitian band playing Kompa just like the others, it's just like their music and lyric's intellectual level is higher , my question is why til this day there is not one production that can match the scale of stuff they did decades ago

Lack of inspiration, they just wanna make money.

Don't you you think musical and academic preparation is lacking somehow

Jean-Luc,

You hit it right on the money:

The lack of musical education in the HMI is astonishing. They could care less about applying the laws of music to their composition and they can barely read a musical partition. The average musician only knows about 3 chords (1-4-5) and their favorite scale is probably C.

Zekle songs usually have everything....sevenths, sus4, augmented, diminished scales and they don't follow the 1-4-5 deal.

Once our musicians see the need to culture themselves a bit, more bands will emerge with this unique sound that's lacking right now.

Siromyel,

Asking if Zekle is a konpa band is the same thing as asking if Kassav is a zouk band. Zekle plays konpa and other styles too.

Maby its because , before
It was about making Music First
Now its about making monney first ...

It was also about story telling
now depi groove la mache, slogan a mache .. its ok...

I might be wrong, but when I listen to Zekle or Skandal for that matter the emphasis was on the music, the arrangements, the feel of it all...
I enjoy Listening

Now its more like Pop Culture for the HMI
and I'm talking strickly konpa, cause you have people like Belo doing great things with their own stlye...

Not saying that it is wrong, not at all .. it's a choice.
So I wouldnt really compare The " POP" bands of Now with pioneers of a new genre of music...
My 2 cents Cool

MIZIKPANOU

The songs that you are bringing up from the "STOP" CD (Amelie, Pil ou Fas) are from their THIRD (3rd) cd. They had 2 other albums before that.

That's because they don't play the "son la-ri" and therefore I can see why you may be confused, as to what style they are playing.

Oh puhlease!

You dont think I know more about konpa than that?

Even skandallll.

I have a skandal lakou something album. About 60 percent of it is not konpa... at least to me.

Maybe it's because I dont listen to ZEKLE all the time.

I only listen to some of their music online sometimes... And I have some songs on some mixes.

When I get home I will brush up on some zekle... refresh my ears and see.

I know the musicianship is great, but both bands are really not my cup of tea.

The music is so relaxing they make me fall asleep every time.
