I keep on listening to their albums produced several decades ago, I notice they're still more advanced than what we are released today on the market, I keep on asking myself why is that _________________ "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind." -

Zekle was ahead of its time. They strive on originality, which makes them timeless. Every Zekle song has a history, a deeper meaning, in both instrumentation and lyrical content. Nowadays, bands focus too much on the grooves, too much on the hip, not realizing lyrical content is what defines a song (my opinion of course). There are many reasons why Zekle sounded so good, and I could go on and on. First and foremost, the musicians of Zekle were very talented, and at the time, haitian music was very experimental. All bands was coming up with something different (Tabou, Magnum, DP Express, Bossa, SkahShah) which pushed the musicians to outdo themselves and be original.
If you hear Zekle, you will see that their music is simple, but the simplicity is what makes it so good and timeless. The structure of the songs are not the same, not predictable. There is not this one sound effect on the keyboard that will be replaced by another one in a year. There isn't a one uniform style, their music is very diversified. Zekle could have been the next Tabou Combo in terms of popularity if they were more welcome in our community back then, and if they related to the mass more and if their business was more efficient. They need to try and produce a new album, I wonder what it would sound like. Imagine a Belo, Jahnesta, Boukman Eksperyans, Emeline Michel, and even some of our most coveted compas stars featuring on a Zekle CD. This is the kind of things our producers in the HMI don't think about. |

You mean their old stuff still sound more advanced than what's being released on the market today despite the fact that they've on the market for a long time.
Even then, what do you mean by more advanced tho?
I don't see many of today's bands which I could compare them to. Definitely not Konpa, Racines, Rap Kreyol or our solo artists.
My bad if I didn't get the question. _________________ Chillin in Konpa Land!!! |

They are an haitian band playing Kompa just like the others, it's just like their music and lyric's intellectual level is higher , my question is why til this day there is not one production that can match the scale of stuff they did decades ago _________________ "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind." -

Don't you you think musical and academic preparation is lacking somehow _________________ "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind." -
