It actually turned out to be a pleasant night guys. I don't normally do reviews but being that this was my first time seeing both bands perform live I thought, why not?!? Very Happy

I was kind of ambivalent about going to begin with due to the fact that it was raining. But being that I was out and about already and I was curious about seeing Daan Jr. live I decided to go and mwen pa regret Laughing

I got to SOB's exactly at 12am and Cruz La was setting up already. I wasn't even sure they were supposed to be there so I was little miffed because I thought that meant that Daan Jr. wasn't going to play. Much to my surprise Cruz La has somewhat of fanbase because they were there front and center, mostly young ladies.

OK Cruz La, a relatively young group based in Brooklyn from what I was informed. I never heard of them or maybe I never paid attention to it. With that being said, it was evident that they were relatively young and new due to one, their physical demeanor, they really do look young Laughing One of the guys looked like he was at least 17. Secondly, their first two songs they played were other bands songs, they began with "Deception-Shedly and Nicky" and next with "S'antim ta Kriye-T-vice". I think they even did Chris Brown's "With or Without You". Their renditions weren't bad but the vocals were really strained and not necessarily my cup of tea. The band wasn't too bad though...the guys that were on the keyboard and guitar did pretty well. Like I said, I'm not too familiar with their songs so I wouldn't know what songs they played that were theirs. Overall, I think their performance was ok. They're trying, they're new and trying to find their identity. Good Luck to you guys.

Daan Jr:
Now, here's the real reason I made it to SOB's. I wanted to see for myself if the rumors I heard about him not being able to play live were true and guess what?!?....you guys were wrong!!!. I mean maybe back in the day for some but he must have greatly improved or something because I surely didn't see what you guys have seen. I think he and the band did a pretty good job. The band is pretty tight and Daan Jr's vocals weren't quite the same like they are on his cd's but it wasn't bad neither. Some of the songs they played were, "J'ai besoin de toi", "J'ai soif de toi", "Mwen Santi'm Beni", "Ave'w", "Kite'm alle", "Mete'm Alez" in which Alan Cave joined him on stage and "Sou Do". They really did do a good job to the point where the people in attendance asked them to do an encore and he sang "J'ai besoin de toi" with Alan Cave again and the keyboardist gave the ladies a treat with his tongue skills on the keys..haha, a sight to see. Laughing Great job to Daan Jr. and D5...I'm glad I had the opportunity to see you guys live.

Overall a great evening at SOB's, it wasn't too packed but a very good turnout...got to see some of my KM peeps JayB (granmoun the best la), Aesha-Jersey girl for life, DaoriginalKompaKing and G-money I think Cool Either way it was fun as always!!!

I only have five pics of Daan Jr. and Co.. Laughing

Thanks for the review. I've been waiting for a Music Fan's review, someone like you with a Fair and Balanced approach. Looks like a Good Night even with the Rain.
Thanks Again
Peace
