As some of you may know it by now, Rodrigue Milien is presently at a hospital in Florida and his condition is not looking good at all.
Now there is a group in Montreal trying their best to raise $20.000 for Rodrigue.
While I will send my contribution just because I LOVE RODRIGUE as an artist...I can't help it to say that it's not fair that someone like Rodrigue is having his own OPERATION MEN KONTRE like it was done for Ti Manno in the 1980s...It's frustrating...

The reason that I'm upset is because Rodrigue made more than 20 albums during his 45 years career as a recording artist. I can easily count 23 albums. He contributed to the wealth of many of top producers in the past decades at a time when artists used to sell their masters to the producers...with no return in royalties.

Let's not forget that Rodrigue Milien was so popular that the French citizen/businessman/producer CLAUDE MANCUSO made a movie in the 1970s titled A LA MIZE POU RODRIGUE starring RODRIGUE MILIEN playing himself in the movie. That was way before the innovation of the Haitian movies on videos in today's market...Think 1970s and you will see that was something big. I saw the movie (film) for the first time on the big screen at Cine Triomphe...Rodrigue is a very funny guy and a great entertainer. Today Rodrigue is living a real A LA MIZE POU RODRIGUE...Where is Claude Mancuso?

The main reason why Rodrigue should not be in that position is because the artist Millionaire WYCLEF JEAN used part of Rodrigue Milien's work on his song 24 HOUR TO LIVE..."Mwen ta renmen konnen dat e jou map mouri" should rign the bell to most of you...That should tell us that there is some kind of relation and connection between the two artists...Where is Wyclef Jean?

Wyclef need to step up and pay a visit...the Haitian proverb says..."Se Lè'w nan malè pou konn si ou guen bon zanmi..."

Mini Records - 1 or more album
R. Francis Records 1 or more album
Gayrleen Records -2 or more albums

Get well soon Rodrigue....You will always be one of my favorite Haitian superstars of all time.

Although I agree with you and think that Haitians should step up and help him out, I also think that this should be a lesson to all musicians. Stop running after women and get your financial affairs in order. Now, in terms of the "top producers" you mentioned, tell me, are any of them doing exceptionally well? or are they struggling just like everyone else. A lot of "producers" in this...industry just talk a big talk...no substance to back it up.

Personally, I think among the people you mentioned, the only one to REALLY help, is Wyclef. He has the means! Let's see if he'll step up and do what is right.

Great observations Staff! Thank you for the information. I wasn't aware of that. But anyway I wish him a full recovery and hoping that some popular active bands will help out. As they say, " PROBLEM YON GASON SE POU YON LOT".

I can't tell neither it is legit....but I do know that Rodrigue is ill...
I will send my contribution anyway to the committee in the morning...but you do have a point regarding the credibility of the committee...I never heard of them neither....but I will give credit to the people of Montreal since they have some well known places for people to drop the donation.
Sometimes we just have to take the chance...

I am not from that generation, but as a music lover I own 5 or 6 Rodriguew Millien album, including The Best of Rodrigue Millien (en Bolero).

The guy is a true talent and even decades later we all can related to his music and they are still good to listen.

Is the money to cover the medical cost? Is Rodrigue or his family aware of that? Does that sit well with them?

Now, for the committe that is collecting money on his behalf, we need to know who is behind it? Any media personality, promoter, or producer in the committee? any of Rodrigue Millien close relative in the committe?

SP, you mention he is in a hospital in Florida and the money in being collected in Montreal, how will the collector(s) do the follow-up.

Before I can make a donation, we need to confirm that the committee is legit, the people behind it can be trusted. This is very important to do so pou plis moun pa kontinye pran avantaj sou mizisyen an pandan ke li malad.
