I was in class and didn't know anything until after the second hit. The professor told all of us to go straight home. Crazy traffic out of the parking lot that day. I remember thinking that it had to be that guy Osama Bin Laden...Didn't know much about him then, except that he was a terrorist. _________________ "Mesye bliye chèz la, al nan sena a, oubyen al fè sinema" Beethova Obas. |

I WAS ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL WAITING FOR THE BUS 49 ON KINGS HIGHWAY. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON, UNTIL I SAW THE WHOLE AREA FILLED WITH SMOKE AND DEBRIS, WERE FALLING DOWN. AND I ASKED THE PEOPLE AT THE BUS STOP WHAT WAS GOING ON, THATS WHEN I FOUND OUT THE TWIN TOWERS HAVE BEEN HIT. I REMEMBER I FELT NUMB, BECASE MY UNCLE WORKS IN ONE OF THE BUILDINGS. I WAS TRYING TO CALL HIM, BUT I COULD NOT REACH HIM. I WENT BACK HOME AND WAIT FOR HIM TO ATLEAST GIVE US A CALL TO LET US KNOW HE WAS OK. THANKS TO OUR LORD JESUS HE CAME OUT A LIVE. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS.

I was heading to class and I typically listen to newsradio. There was mention of a plane crashing into a building in New York somewhere. "What a terrible accident," I thought as my mind just merrily wondered away without even giving it a second thought...When I got to class, everyone was on a computer station watching the same loop of the first plane bursting into of flames as it crashed into the first tower...followed by a second plane hitting the second tower...For a brief moment, I thought it was the same plane but shown at a different angle. After a while you just knew this was not a coincidence and something was terribly wrong!
I live in Florida and as tragic as that day was, I still can't imagine how difficult it must have been for the New Yorkers who actually had to live and experience this horrible tragedy first hand. Being so far away, it felt surreal... numbing...perhaps even unreal...you know it's happening because the television pictures and computer graphics said so, but there was still this minute hope that it could have been a fabrication...a hoax...a bad movie trailer...anything! There still remained a slight hope that maybe just maybe, there'd be a different outcome when CNN showed the replay for the umpteenth time, but alas!

On that day i was in school. My grandmother called me and asked me If I heard about what happened in NY.
I was like HUH?? In Haiti, you dont have any contact with the outside world when your in class unless your in recess!!
Thats when she broke it down to me. The whole family was worried because one of my uncles works at the rockfeller center. We didnt hear anything from him till the next day!!!
Thank GOD he was ok!!!!
That day everything in haiti was also dead. It will always stay in our minds.
it was a very sad day!!!
R.I.P. to all the victims and condolences to all the families affected. _________________ Kies ke ka fe sa.....
