ok.. I know when you see the title, you must be going what the heck? Rolling Eyes Laughing but the only reason, I called the post that is, I know many of you will not know the topics that are about to be discuss here.. if you don't know, feel free to ask question, but if you do, don't stay on the sideline reading, participate..

In haiti we often hear about, LOUGAWOU (sort of like vampires), MET MINWI (a sort of spirit that rules the midnight hours), MED DLO (another spirit that rule a certain part of rivers).. and many others...

it used to be a pleasure for me when I go to haiti for "vakans" and sit down and hear the different stories from the old folks.. one experience that I had, was one night we went to Gressier (where my grand parents are from) near leogane, while sitting outside with friends, we saw two of our elders came out with a broomstick and started beating on something, after a couple of seconds, we saw something took of from the citrus tree with a red light trailing it... well my aunt called it a LOUGAWOU... but the most interesting part was, there was a baby sleeping inside, and that night when we went inside, there was drops of blood all on the sheet and around the area the baby was sleeping. the baby was so sick over the next few months.. but never died.. it was said that an old lady leaving in the area was the monster/lougawou behing that attack..
now people, till today, I never wanna believe that it was a lougawou that I saw.. but I have no other fact to claim otherwise..

I've never seen a "MET MINWI"... I've never seen a "MET DLO".. it is said that the "MET DLO" have a little comb... that sometimes when chilling by the river he lay down on a rock.. and if you can get your hands on that comb, then you're rich.

it all sound like greek stories, I bet... but because of my lougawou experience, am kinda reluctant to NOT believe that those other things exist..

do you really believe that those thing are happening?

Ben, there's a difference between belief in something versus the practice thereof...If you believe there's a yang for every yin, why wouldn't you believe there's a dark force opposite the light?
Like I said before I don't know much about that stuff, but it's silly to so summarily dismiss it as nonexistent...

me on the other hand have seen a lougawou... I just till today don't wanna accept it.

Loulou... I never knew that they were male lougawou... I've always heard that when a "chyen" is following you at night... they called that "move zespri" or "ranvwa".
