Bigwilly,

Ironically the turn out was not as high as I thought it would be Embarassed From what I was told, this in fact was like the event of the year, it seems like everybody who is active in the industry was there, it was more like a janm session for all musicians...and a press fest! God it looked like everybody who is somebody in Haitian press residing in Haiti was there!

Haitian people are funny, perhaps had they not said it was a relief fund, but a bal where all of the name makers would be in attendance, ...I'm sure the crowds would have come out by the masses...this was a fundraiser and now half of the country wished they came after seeing and hearing about what went down...enfin c'est la vie!

I wish I was there too Embarassed

Nounoune, normally whenever Djakout plays in Djoumbala, it is usually a full house. However, I guess you had to be in Haiti, in PaP to know how it was that week. Eveyone was in a morose mood, but almost everyone was mobilized helping out in some way or the other whether it was publicly or extending a hand to family members and/or acquaintances/friends. The telethon was the highlight of the weekend and made public and highly promoted.

The Djakout bal, I only heard from KM and my Mom and was surprised while at the telethon and someone mentioned that they were going to Djakout that night. If I only found out at the telehon the same day and a few hours before the bal, I can only imagine the number of people who were in the dark about the DATE and TIME of this event (even though everyone knew that Djakout was planning something like this, they didn't know when).

It is really in poor taste to criticize the ppl for not attending this bal and insinuate that it's because it was a fundraiser when I witnessed so many people with hardly much themselves giving what they can (some pledged for 10gdes when they only had 20 gdes on their phone) and so many that have contributing with all their hearts as well (there were so many teenages and volunteers at the telethon that it made me proud of our people). It is true that many still don't care enough and even try to profit from this situation, but don't speculate and criticize our people without knowing the facts cause Lord knows we have enough people around the world doing it for us.

HipChick,

What really is in poor taste is for you to assume that I was accusing people of being insensitive to THE CAUSE. I don't think I ever said that Exclamation I said and I stand by the fact that there was a lack of support for this event, (FOR WHATEVER REASON)...and I still stand by the fact that MANY people including yourself as from what you pointed out WISHED they had attended, AFTER THE FACT Idea Now, was I wrong?...or do recall even you saying you regret not being there, inspite of being tired and all Cool You are assuming and speculating that because I am not in Haiti, I have no idea of the mood or temperament of the habitants during this tragic time.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD FOLLOW YOUR OWN ADVICE Wink
