If going to bal makes a woman a ddd, what venue does the Haitian society offer for social networking, without a woman seeming like a ddd? Every community has a venue where its members can meet if they are new in town. I’ve always thought of Haitian bal as one of those venues. I personally don’t to bals, because I moved to Miami 4 years ago, and don’t know anyone there. However, having lived away from the Haitian community for 12 years, I couldn’t wait to reconnect to my people. Consequently, there were many times when I contemplated going to a bal by myself to hear a band that I like. But I am often reminded by my friends that “Fi pa al nan bal san gacon”. A perception I find very backward and unfair to the number of women who simply love to hear compa, just like men.
I’ve considered going to bals as a way to socialize, meet people and make friends in town. By meeting people I’m not talking about one-night stands, I’m talking about platonic friends. So, if I were to walk into a bal alone, would that make me a ddd? Even if I meet someone at a bal, I like to have intelligent conversations and be intellectually stimulated. Are you insinuating that such friendships could not possibly be developed from a bal encounter? Then my question becomes, where do Haitian professionals go to socialize, have fun, share culture and connect? Is our society completely void of these venues? Are our men so archaic in their mentality that they could never eventually see my character as a woman, and only remember that we had met at a bal while I was alone? I beg to differ and hope that certain bals can still have that potential?
Must every woman at a bal be objectified as a sex object? What does that say about our men and the respect that they have for Haitian sisters?
I remain hopeful that there are many more brothers out there who are capable of seeing our women in a more positive light than just a one night stand, simply because she dared to go out without a man beside her. This is the 21st century and I think its high times that our women are valued on their own merit, whether they’re standing by a man or not. Their humanity should be sufficient and deserving of respect.

I would be very suspicious of a girl that I meet in a club when it comes to relationship. It all depends on how things go after the club. If she let me hit on the first night or within a week, then I will definitely not want anything to do with her. Girls and guys who attend clubs frequently are usually not the relationship type. _________________ THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPINION AND FACTS. |

It is unfortunate that one would say that a woman that gives her number at a club is not worth a relationship (shame on you DJ Kompa)
People choose to go to clubs for many reasons. Granted it is a common occurence that SOME young ladies that goes to Club choose to engage in one night stands but unfortunately it is not 100%.
I know people that met at a bal or at a club that are in serious relationships after geting to know each other better.
The club or the bal brings maybe the initial physical attraction but from that a lot might evolve..... _________________ Some men see things as they are and say Why?, Others dream of things and say Why Not? |

HAAAAAA!!!!!
Post sou night life sa yo bon anpillllll!
Guys, a woman is more in touch with her sexuality than you think. She knows within 5 minutes of encountering a man if she would f*ck him or not.
So DON'T over-analyze the fact that getting busy the same night you met a girl makes her a ddd or un-worthy of a serious relationship.
I'm sure Vida Guerra goes to church!!!
So in 2008, please stop with the thoughts limited on "locations".
People go to a bal for a variety of reasons. If you score the same night (and that goes for the ladies too! there are some predators out there!) GOOD for YOU!
And just like everything in life, calculate your next move carefully. EPI SE TOU! |

To each his own...
However I think it is unfortunate that a guy has to categorize a girl based on which place they met! You could miss out on good person!
And yes people do go to clubs for other reasons such enjoying themselves(not necessarily one night-stands), listening to good music, chilling with friends, etc...
