I like the idea a lot and I do beleive it would work just fine, off course IF the TALENT is there. Every single musicians in that band would have to be very good... not average but much better then average...
Since the focus would be on the 2 guitars, this guys would have to be able to do a lot more then just grooves otherwise it would get boring real fast. I'm talking about real solos, bon jan graje gita and a lot of imagination to bring new sounds, effects etc... paske afè "chorus" sa patap mache lontan.
I think only few of our known guitar players could pull this of... very few...
Great idea DJ Kreyol and thanks Georgino for the clip... _________________ Na Pale...

DJK it is hard to tell. Bands like TVICE, CARIMI, KREOL LA...survive without a live horn section. As long as you bring something new, folks will be used to it.
HMI bands are still based on a rock and roll format. As long as you have a guitarist like ROBERT MARTINO(then) or a DADOU PASKET in that band, I do not see why not. _________________ Kite'l mache |

bieng a guitar fan and having a dislike for the overuse of the keyboard in our kompa, I would welcome such move...
guys like El Pozo, Delice, Mackenson, La Porte would be hot commodities... _________________ BAT CHIEN AN, TANN MET LI! |

Oooohhhhh Jay how can you be a guitar fan and not add guys like Makarios Cesaire, Dener Ceide and Ralph Conde to your list?
All jokes aside, I think this format really needs guys who have the complete package in terms of there guitar skills. In todays konpa bands format, an average guitar player can rely on the keyboard player to the song interesting. Nan foma Mini Jazz la, pi fo travay la tonbe sou do gitaris yo...
Si ou paka kenbe konpa chen manje'w... _________________ Na Pale...

Well this is already in existence. The leading band in Martinique right now is exactly a young band with 2 guitars no keyboard they come out with a style called Zouk Metal and they are kicking.
I don't wanna break the rules but I'm asking Pat the permisson to let you see a rendition of "la foi" of Magnum Band by this group called Bamboolaz.
believe it or not se yo ki Jazz la jeuness la depuis 2 ou trois and nou ka remarke nou pa tande Carimi ak T Vice pa tro pale de Martinique Gwadeloupe as often they used to, in bin se mouvement jeune minijazz sa mete yon tempo sou yo wi, believe or not.

This is what I've been saying all along, Konpa no longer belong solely to us Haitians. _________________ If there is one thing we know how to do it is MUSIC.
