More and more bands are becoming FULL BANDS because the industry has forced them.

But looking at the Gypsies tour has got me THINKING about a NEW + YOUNG band in a MINI-DJAZZ format.

Meaning all necessary instruments EXCEPT the keyboard.

I think it would be great to hear.

I would be FRESH.

And just DIFFERENT.

Any thoughts?

KREYOL

I totally agree. I think it would be refreshing and all, but HIGHLY UNLIKELY in this day and age. The market has changed, and EVERYONE SHOULD BE SHOCKED to see a band get on stage WITHOUT A KEYBOARD.

Their reaction would be the same as NENEVICE when he saw GYPSIES set up at SOBS. "KOTE KEYBOARD la" was NENEVICE's reaction BEFORE the group started playing. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

He was so impressed that he was back to see the GYPSIES the next night at Mangoville.

KM!

It would be refreshing and I'd like to hear what it would sound like. However, if any band decides to go that route they need to master it before performing for the public because there will already be some skepticism towards the the new approach so for them to embrace it it has to be on point. Personally, the keyboard and guitar are my favorite instrumental sounds when listening to music, but I'd gladly broaden my musical knowledge.

Well this is already in existence. The leading band in Martinique right now is exactly a young band with 2 guitars no keyboard they come out with a style called Zouk Metal and they are kicking.
I don't wanna break the rules but I'm asking Pat the permisson to let you see a rendition of "la foi" of Magnum Band by this group called Bamboolaz.
believe it or not se yo ki Jazz la jeuness la depuis 2 ou trois and nou ka remarke nou pa tande Carimi ak T Vice pa tro pale de Martinique Gwadeloupe as often they used to, in bin se mouvement jeune minijazz sa mete yon tempo sou yo wi, believe or not.

Georgino,

Thanks for the clip.

And you are sorta right.

The Mini Djazz was a response and influenced by the British & American Rock N Roll wave.

However the guys in the clip have too much Rock for what I am proposing.

I am talking about a current Mini Djazz playing like the old Tabou, Gypsies and Difficles.

But thanks for the clip. It was a good listen. Nice find. Cool

I have a couple of video in the Mp3 Section check it out and it will give you an idea.

It can be very refreshing DJK but not sure it will work then again .. i'm not 100% sure.. I love the Guitar Licks so much that it will be a breath of Fresh air..But if the 2 playing them are not very good ... it' will be a waiste of time.

Let me just say this an Passan...

Not to long ago...System Keyboardist was late.. or should i say Very veryyyyyyyyy late .. Me as a big fan was Panicking ... ...

And here Come Reginald to tell me Poze' ... Relax non Yanva mwen ka jere' ti sa...Offcorse I brush him off...

they play the first 4 songs just like that...

Reginald Bejamin & Balan just Kill it ..And by that i mean Kill it , so much So that si se pou Mwen , mwen tap tou Fired Keyboardist la.. Cause they didn't miss a beat and even Cover his Solo...

Will it work maybe ..But you better make sure those 2 Guitarist are up to the task at Hand. Wink
