One of the things that today's bands are doing that was not accepted in the past is the fact that some bands like T.Vice/Mickey/Djakout and some others play their past carnival songs on the parade route...that would have been a NO NO in the days of serious competitions like Nemours/Sicot - D.P/Scorpio - Septen/Tropic - Jouvenceaux/Invincibles etc...
Even Sicot who had an unprecedented success with the carnival song "Men Jet La"...had to put it to rest the next year.....
Yo tap konsidere sa se lach...si Sicot ta jwe Jet la sou Champs de Mars gnou lot fwa...
Discussions of the day.....
Do you feel it's a good practice to play a past success on the road...? or....Is it an act of weakness and lack of inspiration for a band to go back from the past years bags of tricks to find something to move the crowd.....?
Do you feel that each year should be remembered for their own carnival songs and not be tampered by any past hits?

| I actually think its a good thing to use a past hit carnival. In case one year things aren't going to good and a band doesn't want fans leaving to go to another band you play the carnival you know which will have the people screaming and dancing. I say everything goes. |

se menm jan le yon mnamna gen pitit li... li pa leve pitit li pou'l ka fe sa manman'l te konn fe non... she'll teach him or her.. how to prepare themself for a better tomorrow...
pou mwen menm djazz yo.. chanje style Namours an... yo fe'l yon fanson que New Generation an ap renmen.
tout djazz ap jwe kompe Direk...... no bands ever played the same way like Namour did.... the old school used Nemours style.. and transformed it even better than...the man himself.
and i 4got to add.. kompa bands should do their kanaval pike devan.. leave the ranaval for the Rara Band.

Well I would say maybe it’s a lack of inspiration in some cases....
But what happen when it’s the crowd that asks for it, they are not performing for themselves but for the public the band cannot just disappoint everyone just because what they are asking for is last year work...
For instance T-Vice with “Elkote ya” this carnival has been there for more than five year, T-Vice konn ap jwe tout moun ap rele anmwey lage elikopte...... nan ka sa yo pa gen le chwa non but to play it et moun yo ki ate ya ki vle dansel la saw voye yo al fe
