I asked KENSY and he told me FOR SURE SHABBA, POUCHON, and RORO will be there with Clef. He also says that he thinks that DJAKOUT (As in the whole band) will be there as well. |

Some may say that I am always political about things. Yet, I am convinced that Black people should not be complacent when it comes to History because black people are the most oppressed in the world. But surprisingly, we always manage to overcome. Now that we can see Wyclef and plenty of other black artists on that MTV, guess who we should thank for that? Before the powerful, the ultimate entertaining Thriller video from Michael Jackson in 1982, MTVâs management made it clear to Michaelâs manager Yetnikoff, head of CBS Records at the time, that they wonât play black videos. In that time, MTV was dedicated only to rock music. It is only after Michael Jacksonâs breakthrough with Thriller that Prince will be featured on MTV. He will be the second black artist to do so. And boom! the door at MTV was open for all black artists, including Wyclef. And now Djakout.
We must understand that it is because Michael was such a genius that MTVâs door couldnât stay closed. Before Thriller, they had refused Billie Jeans from the same genius. After they saw the impact of Thriller, MTV would follow Michael like a dog and asked him for everything he produced. In this December 2007 issue of Ebony magazine, Michael said that MTVâs management told him many times that he made MTV famous.
I just said that Black people are the most oppressed in the world. Thatâs very true. However, lately I have been trying hard to get a message across. My message is simple: 1) Black people should learn to love, support and respect one another; 2) Black people should stop short of calling white people ââracistâ, when we do we put ourselves in an inferior position because ââracismââ is defined as white people pretending to be superior to all other races. By calling a white person racist, we basically give strength to the racist ideology; 3) The day Black leaders will start working in the interest of black people, that day Black People will be respected everywhere. Asians enjoyed no respect in the world until they start showing what they can achieve as people. Japan is a well known case. But look at China now.
We must note that nothing was given to Michael. With his impressive imagination and creativity, he forced MTV to show respect for black artists. The same will happen for Black people as a whole when Black leaders start showing to the world that they are not stupid slaves, dirty traitors and sell-outs that they are now.
I am sorry to say that Haiti wonât be Respected until we show that we are organized and productive as a people. Do we know that the only time Haiti was internationally Known and Respected was under Papa Doc (Duvalier père). Back then, Haitiâs name could be read on many products (coffee, tobacco, sugar, meat, Rum) etc.
Wyclef, Djakout or T-Vice can do so much. Unfortunately, they canât bring us ââRespectââ. Our ââRespectââ will come only through political order and a country that works.
Pitit Ginen.

Pitit Ginen,
I had to bypass a whole bunch of nonsense, until, I came across your post...although no one responded, it redirected the whole focus and brought forth the positivity of this thread.
I thank you for pointing out what should be the true meaning of success within our country, and that is.... the upmost respect for one another.
Some of us may not like Djakout or even big fans of their music, irregardless of the case, we should hope this event brings out positivity for us as people and them as artist.
Furthermore, acknowledge those who made it possible. We lack so much of our history and culture within our own country; that I feel we somehow become content with what we are offered. Alot of inspirations comes from the past...so lets not forget that. We can't move forward w/out recognizing our past.
I wish Djakout the best and hope they bring 100% of their efforts, as well as, their professionalism; so that they may give an outstanding performance. Good luck!
Once more, thank you for pointing that out! |
