I have never been on a small plane, but I don't think I would have to to know that they are dangerous. Regardless of them traveling in Haiti with no tower, they are dangerous. Aliyah died on one. I hope they respect what he has said and make other arrangements. Although I have heard that traveling by car is dangerous there, too. God bless whichever road they go. One thing I don't understand is his statement that now that they are a more popular band that they have a lot more to lose. Does that mean that they will lose gigs if they travel by car or their lives are more valuable because they are a bigger band now? I think either way they have their lives to think about and it is just as valuable whether they were T-Vice or the people who clean the streets. _________________ People fear what they do not know. |

since i go to haiti at least 2 times each year since 2002 i have been in the car/bus/camio taxis and personal cars many times on the road to jacmel.... and let me tell u if i had a choice i would still choose the plane... there was one saturday on the way up to jacmel and for those of u that dont know the only road there a skinny 20-30 ft if that wide road right along the side of a mountain with a flimsy railing to "prevent" you from fallin over into the 100+ ravine. on this one particular day a large truck carrying soda deliveries tipped over goign to fast and fell smack in the road blockin both coming and going....now once u are in the mountains its an hour back or forward before u see anyone. well we got stuck in a row of cars where there were 30-40 in front and the same behind...u have any idea what its like being stuck for 5-6hours going into the night in haiti on an unlit road where people are walking around and they know u are american... its liek sayin oh please.... come rob me. this was around 04 -05. luckily for us the driver got a little nervous too once nightfall hit and did some sick/scary manvuering around the truck and we got there later... its not fun. i would rather my plane fall from the sky and die quickly than fall and roll off a ravine where the chances of anyone knowing are slim. ive been onteh small planes. they do radio their gps coordinates and those are recorded by the PAP towers. anyone who thinks not is crazy. planes their are like planes here. you are statistically mroe at risk in a car than in a plane. you only think its worse cause the plane is in haiti. and the pilots are dominicans who fly from haiti to jamaica, cuba and other islands... |
