 |
|
in 2002, a young brat by the name of KuntaKinte pop up on KM with a prediction DIGITAL aka TECHNO COMPAS will not last because of potential International exposure. I said in order for bands to be taken serious by International promoters, they will need to have the stage presence by adding live instruments, because international audience love their instruments. Only one person believed in my remark...MEXKONPA. Even Vladvice said 100% Digital will last.
Remember 2002 was the height of the Digital band Era with many bands with "Sweet" and "Ti" popping out of the wood work.
With potential International exposure, the Digital Bands realised the International market is tough on MICRO CHIPS. _________________ OU VLE LAVE LAJAN, LAGE L NAN MAYTAG LA

Rashka I was the bad guy on the board lol TOTOVICE, VLAD, KOMPA SE PAM, and other Digital fans wanted to smack me around lol Now I am cool with all the parties except KOMPAS SE PAM. That is why People think I don't like Nouvelle Generation Compas bands, because I am so anti-Digital bands. _________________ OU VLE LAVE LAJAN, LAGE L NAN MAYTAG LA

No need to have a Crystal ball. If you obsevre bands from other markets you could of realized what those major consumers like and dislike. With Digital band you were somewhat limited unless extremly knowlegeable about computers and technology. |

Kunta,
I applaude your prediction.
But what I dont agree is your reasoning or better yet I have OTHER reasons for the SHIFT.
Festivals in the U.S. really SHOWED how inferior a DIGITAL sounded compared to a FULL BAND. Also its these same festivals that have HELPED Djakout's CLIMB to the top.
So the shift occured when TOP digital bands such as Carimi, Kreyol La and T-Vice decided to add more percussion.
I dont believe in the notion that these GROUPS added the percussions SOLEY based on INTERNATIONAL exposure.
While Carimi and T-Vice may say that one of their reasons, what about the rest?
Kreyol La, Faraheniet, Krezi, Ti-Kabzy all PUT drummers because they followed suit and not because of international exposure.
Nu-Vice formerly Top Vice ALWAYS traveled to the Antilles with their MPC.
So I think the BIGGEST reason why the shift began is because of two PRIMARY things 1) Festivals and 2) It was a trend and the public demand a heavier konpa. _________________ "Mrs. Jones, we got a thing going on...." |

Good point, DJK. In fact, you can combine those two points in one: One major reason why bands started feeling the need for a ban dèyè is the popularity of DJAKOUT MIZIK at festivals. |

Tou Belle English literature sa yo belle anpilllllllll min anpil nan nou refuse pale de Crime ke djakout te fe sou T-VICE AMazura ki somewhat Cementd the superiority of Full Bands, epi Nulook ak Zenglen vin Dedoubler.
