STANLEY HERISSE who is now a member of KREYOL LA talks about 2 of the biggest hits that he had with KONPA KREYOL. The songs in question are "MALERE KAP TRIP" and "KOUT BA".
*KOUT BA: "That song was about 2 friends of mine that were a couple who actually broke up. The guy was telling me how his girl just dumped him, and I thought that I could make a good song out of it. After I did it, I showed him the text to the song, and he actually did some corrections in there. The lady friend one day actually told me that the song was one of her favorite songs on the cd WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING THAT THE SONG HAD BEEN ABOUT HER RELATIONSHIP WITH MY FRIEND." (Laughs)
*MALERE KAP TRIP: "That song is about guys that members of the group knew that were actually like that. They would borrow stuff from people in order to go show themselves off at bals, unfortunately, they never really had all these things that they were showing off to the ladies. They were always well dressed, with the nicest cars, and then YO YOUN PAT POU YO. (Lol) My cousin actually got me in trouble by telling one of those guys that we were talking about that I had mentioned to him that the song was about him. The guy called me up to playfully tell me "Nap fe mizik sou mwen papa" (Lol). I told him NO that I did not."
STANLEY also wrote the songs "DESTIN" and "PIYAY" for KONPA KREYOL/KREYOL LA.
