SHOUBOU called me to talk about some of the comments made by the KM MEMBERS in regards to him alledgedly being SELFISH. He said that it's so far from the truth that he was hurt by the comments.

SHOUBOU: "When I accepted to have FRERO sing 4 SONGS on the last Tabou Combo cd because I felt that I needed to have a young singer next to me for Tabou, only to have Frero go back on his word to us, how can that be called a selfish move? When I was in Africa and heard Alan Cave's "Se Pa Pou Dat" playing on the radio, I called him up to say that I was very proud of him. I was the one who said that I would NOT sing "La Pesonne' when MALAVOI wanted me to sing that song because I felt that Alan had done a fantastic job with that song. I went and played with Carimi au Zenith when they wanted me to be there."

Shoubou continues: "As far as people saying that Tabou blocked the way for many other Haitian bands down there, that's not true at all. If a promoter says that they want a popular band that will make them some money, there is nothing that we can do to make a promoter not use any band. Look at Carimi...they are a big hit down there. Fans have to be very careful about what they say/hear or repeat."

I have said this before, and I will say it again. I think it's wrong on the part of many KM members to come online and make ludicrous accusations without any basis. It makes the site lose credibility. It's one thing to express your views regarding a particular band or artist, but it's another when members are making allegations that have absolutely no merit.

SHOUBOU has all the rights to defend himself and TABOU. But the real truth is TABOU has not been a help for any haitian band in the ANTILLES.

Why PHANTOMS and ZIN in their prime(when were a threat to TABOU in the local market) never get recognized in the ANTILLES?

Eventhough TABOU did not create the MYTH that they were the only valuable haitian band then, but they have given the MYTH more life by not saying anything about IT.

CARIMI is big in the ANTILLES because the MYTH is DEAD and BURIED.
New genration, new ideas, new promoters, new producers, new mentality, new marketing approach help break down the MYTH.

STOP the blinded cheerleading tactics.. It is not going to work...!!!

Allo Fam,
Ou sou min'ou wi la.
I'm feeling your points.
Can't wait to see what you dig up from that old magazine.
I don't think it's selfishness, I see it more as Destiny.
Maybe Tabou was made to Rise and Fall with its original Stars.
For me,Tabou represents the Haitian Version of Earth, Wind & Fire, the Commodores. I like the Tabou Combo legacy.
Peace
