Hello KM,
Today I'm in the mood to share some musical diamonds with you.
Most of us, when we speak of music of the FWI, think of Zouk.
In this topic, I wanna make you discover other styles.
SOFT
Let me begin with a band which has been crowned "Révélation de l'année" and "best album" at the PRIX SACEM, this year. The band's maestro, Fred Deshayes also won the price of the best composer for the song Krim kont la Gwadloup.
SOFT has become a phenomenon in the FWI and in Europe since 2 years.
SOFT is a quartet : a guitarist (Fred Deshayes), a percusionnist (Didier Juste), a bassit (J. Larochelle) and a saxophonist (P. Sadikalay).Their album "KADANS A PEYI LA" is a a symbiosis between traditionnal rythms like gwo ka, biguine, and jazz.
Before this success with SOFT, Fred Deshayes had already collaborated with great artists such as Dominque Coco with the hit song "Chimen an mwen". He also composed the songs for the movie "Dissidents" which deals with the story of Antillean who, during the World War II, left the country, illegaly, to help the Forces Françaises Libres.
Click here to listen to KRIM KONT LA GWADLOUP...great engaged song !

Lol, poor you. Cet album est tout simplement génial.
Gen yon chanson ladanl, Kadans a peyi la, ki di "ni pantin ka chwazi fil a yo". Depi "AKIYO" et ser chanteurs a GWO KA la, m'poko janm tander mizik engagées si bien cadencées _________________ 100% GWADA GIRL |

I'm back with one of the greatest and coolest Guadeloupean musicians of these past years.
RIDDLA is a very talented young man who does CREOLE RAP/HIP HOP. He's worked a lot with Fuckly and N'O Clan. Very active in the Guadeloupean/Creole hip hop/rap mouvement down here, Riddla is, above all, a very versatile musician who can sings in whatever répertoire.
He has a myspace...I don't know if I can put the adress but if you search Riddlaman in google, you'll find it
This track is called "Thon son" and deals with girls who think they're beautiful (but are not) and reject guys @ parties when they ask for a dance.
If you have some Guadeloupean Creole notions, you'll be lmao.
Enjoy !
