 |
|
This is taken from another thread and it's from NEG LAKAY.
NEGLAKAY: "Is it any wonder that Tabou Combo brought little creatively speaking to Konpa. Those more versed into TC's discography might prove me wrong but I've always seen them as just a band going with the flow of the moment, now I can see why: they seem allergic to creativity.
Peace!

Disagree
Band like les Loups Noirs Bossa Combo and Super 9 were going with the flow those 3 bands at that time (1975) sounded exactly the same.
Tabou bought new sounds to compas especially the petion ville bands the othe Pv bands except Freres dejean sounded similar as well

No pat I didnt say they sounded like Tabou i said those 3 bands sounded like eack other. Tabou had thier own sound.
Most PV bands at that time was heavy Guitar no sax like the Port au prince bands But again Tabou had thier own sound as of 1975 _________________ The Haitian Sensation

Neglakay,
name me one band that sounded like Tabou Combo? If the answer is none - which it is, then your conclusion is incorrect. As such, I disagree.
Aside from their distinctiveness in sound and style from all other bands in the industry, Tabou Combo's appeal to fans in the international circle is an abolsute testimony of their creativity.

Hmmm...
DWÈT SOU BOUCH!!!
Tabou is the most popular band in the history of the HMI...
They had the most international success..real ambassadors of our music...
Will they be recognized for being among the most creatives...
nope!!!
This is why....
(for people who remember the great post that I wrote with Kunta a while ago...disregard... )
Tabou Combo always followed a trend instead of setiing them
Let's look at that chronologically
1968 - 1972
They were pure imitation of Ibo Combo
1973 - 1975
Their most creative years under the guidance of Dadou
1976 - 1988
They battled the Antilles invasion with their most popular "funk créole" that put them on the international map
1989 - now
They battled the second Antilles by joining the NOUVELLE GENERATION sound in their repertoire...and they've been following every new trend since...
They always took their inspirations from others...so in a sense....Neg Lakay is right!!!
But then again...for them to take those outside influences and make their own music...it could be also called creativity... |

All Tabou Combo's so called 'Hits" are either played in the key of A major or G major using the same chord progressions. I would not call that "Creativity". _________________ Sa sé parôl gran moun. |
