Even P. Lavelanet noticed the Antilles Compas bands do better remix than our new generation bands. Top Vice did a while lot, but many were just dry. What is going on with the nouvel generation? Is it because the style of compas they have been playing is so deluted when it comes to retro-style of compas, they get confused? Is the talent pool has a shortage? What is up with that?

After listening to many hommage projects from the Antilles, I felt cheated by richie's remakes. This is music from the mother land. It is like the DREAM TEAM of basketball...THE WORLD IS CATCHING UP ON US. Chita ap di THE BEST. I think we will get blind sided once again. Pa bliye sa. So far all the big bands have been releasing hits in the Antilles. Gromosso even told me how impressed he was seeing GRAMACKS live during a T-VICE concert. EXILE ONE has a new CD. Now LA PERFECTA is in the studio to release a 2007 album. LES AIGLONS 2006 album did well unfortunately the lead singer passed away a few months ago.

Listen to the tracks below. Do a comparison with the outsiders versus us in the remake/hommage category.

Check ZIC BAND remake of LA FOI (les Freres Dejean).

LA FOI (Les Freres Dejean) by ZIC BAND Album: Ayiti Bonjou

Kunta,
I was listening to Jude Jean's remake of the Freres Dejean classic "Belle Deesse," and I was extremely disappointed. I can't enjoy that song with anything but with real horns.

For some reason the antilles bands try to add the horn flavor and synth flavor of the old. they toy around with the rest, but not the horns and synth. The horn was a big signature of the old style.
