There are times in the HMI when we've seen a band CLEARLY ADD A MAJOR SPARK to its engine that yielded immediate results that greatly benefitted their business. OLIVIER DURET with T-VICE, STEEVE KHE with DJAKOUT, PIPO with KLASS are just 3 major examples that come to mind. Now KOMPA MAGAZINE THINKS THAT ADDING MIKABEN AS A "permanent" MEMBER of CARIMI (With the ABSOLUTE "OK" BLESSING of MICKAEL GUIRAND) "should" be the next names added to that list.

1) MIKABEN is basically FAMILY. He is so cool with the group going way back, that WE DON'T THINK that there's any chance of him ROCKING THE BOAT in terms of the feel good wave in the band.

2) HIT MAKING CHEMISTRY WITH MAESTRO CAVE: These two have already given you "Fanm Sa Move" and "Baby I Miss U"; and YOU KNOW U CAN'T WAIT to hear what they come up with next....ADMIT IT!!!!! Then you open up the possibility of MIKABEN and CARLO working more as well....and who knows, maybe a MIKA/MICKAEL composed track.

3) HELPS RELIEVE THE PRESSURE ON RICHARD & CARLO!: When it comes to the songs that get on CARIMI CDS, Richard and Carlo have been doing that job for 14 years. When you bring in Mika, because he is a proven composer/hit maker, it helps relieve the pressure on those two, and it also brings in a new flavor that might reach another audience, as well as the same ones that Carimi already caters to.

4) VOCALS DIVERSITY: Now a CARIMI CD can have lead vocals by Mickael, Richard, Carlo, and Mika; and just like Kassav used to do it, it opens up the door for combining 2 or more of the singers on a track or two. You never get tired of listening to the same voice because EACH ONE OF THEM ARE DIFFERENT in terms of their vocals.

5) SECURITY BLANKET FOR MICKAEL: Mika brings a security blanket of sorts for the group in regards to Mickael. You never know if Mike might have to go on another sabbatical/break again; this time if he does, there would be no panic with Mika there as a REGULAR; the business would just continue to flow.

PS: ALL THIS of course as I say.....WITH THE BLESSING of the lead singer MICKAEL GUIRAND that has been guiding the group for 14 years. THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT

Mika Ben is not new to Carimi fans as you mentioned above.

He definitely can fill in permanently but we must not forget that he sometimes switches mode misyeu genleu l sou zafè solo l, zafè rap li should Carimi have another back up singer for that reason?

Mwen pa panse ke gen yon moun nan HMI lan ki ka ranplase Michael Guirand, it would be crazy to think so.....but yes Mika is the perfect guy to add so the group can keep its momentum.
