KM spoke to JBEATZ to get the lowdown on what's cooking in his neck of the woods. Check it out.



1) How would you say the second CD has done compared to your debut CD?
JBEATZ: "Personally I think it did really well. MWEN PENSE KE MWEN TE SUPOZE KITE MOUN YO ENJOY 1ER CD A a little more ANVAN MWEN TE LAGE 2eme nan. In stores it sells all year round, and my online sales have never gone down. MWEN PENSE MWEN TE MANKE PROMOTE 2EME CD A...MIN LI PA JANM TWO TA. NAP TRAVAY SOU SA."

2) When you drop a new music video for a song that's not even on the second CD, is that an indication that you've given up on the current CD and moving on to the next one?
JBEATZ: "Not really. It's a little something for the fans, and I like to be consistent. It's really doing well at the clubs, especially in Haiti...THANKS to the fans. One thing about me is that MWEN TOUJOU AP TRAVAY. I write and produce a song a month, so ten music pound fe sa. NAP TRAVAY. 3EME ALBUM NAN TOU PARE."

3) If I were to ask you currently, which market do you believe that JBEATZ is more popular at; what would you say? Which city?
JBEATZ: "BOSTON in the U.S. GONAIVES in Haiti. In Boston, I had a promoter who believed in me and gave me an opportunity to play with others like Tonymix, Djakout, Carimi, and all 3 parties went great."

4) The city or town that you feel JBEATZ needs to work on the most because you are NOT as popular as you would like to be there is....
JBEATZ: "NEW YORK definitely. We started ok there until we had a major issue with our sound at Amazura at one of our parties. The promoter picked us up late and we did not have time to do the soundcheck; and the engineer we had at the time was NOT familiar with the mixing board there....so A A VOYE.

DEPI LEU SA, it has been an ongoing rumor in NYC about JBEATZ performances. I can't wait to make the fans change their minds when I go there next. LOL."

5) Have bands and artists such as 5 LAN and KREZIBEATZ have an effect on your popularity in the market in terms of sharing the same type of fans...or NO?
JBEATZ: "NO WAY PAT. I drop HITS. I still dominate the Zouk nights all over. My LIVE shows are like concerts. GASON AK FANM AP CHANTE MUSIC MWEN...PLUS FANM ALORS...LOL."

6) You are set to release your brand new CD on FEB 14th of next year. Do you plan to keep the same style musically, or are we going to see some changes?
JBEATZ: "MEN TI BAGAY LA. SE LI KAP MACHE POU MWEN. Imagine that I sold 8000 CDS of the "IT'S GETTING LATE" CD online. I am targeting a young crowd. SE YO KAP ACHETE MIZIK MWEN KONSA. VRE FANATIC MWEN YO....YO POKO MINM KA SOTI AL NAN BAL. I'm not going to change anything and I won't stop until I get where I need to be."

7) Are you FOR releasing a FULL CD every 2 years on the market, or are you in the belief that 1 SONG every 3 months is the way to go?
JBEATZ: "1 SINGLE EVERY 6 MONTHS and a full CD every 2 years. Right now I am working on a kick ass marketing team.

8 ) If I were to ask you as a follower of the industry, which 3 bands are the most popular on the market right now; which bands would you say?
JBEATZ: "To be honest with you, I am not sure KI 3 MEYE JAZ KAP MACHE KOUNEYA. MWEN PA FIN TWO UP TO DATE. I don't go out. If I'm not performing, I am in the studio working or rehearsing with my band."
