We spoke to former T-VICE bass player GERALD KEBREAU, and asked him about his friends from DAT7. Here it is below.
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: With so many bands; established and upcoming, fighting to get noticed by the public and promoters; when a new band like DAT7 comes out with the backing of a guy like Kaliko as their manager/co-owner; do you think there might tend to be some jealousy on the part of some other bands in the business because they might feel as if the guys were born with a silver spoon in their mouths?
GERALD KEBREAU: "Pat there's jealousy everywhere in everything we do in life. What's important is to make good use of what's available to you and let your work speak for you.
Dat7 has 3 well known, talented, and hard working musicians in Oli, Eddy and Tanbou. Eddy has had a 15 year (more or less) relationship with Kaliko and was in T-Vice for 8 so he's been in the game. Oli in T-Vice for as long and solo artist as well. Ricot (Ti Tanbou) has been writing music for a long time and making a name for himself in both the NY and Miami markets. It's only fitting that Kaliko would engage himself with them to give them a push in such a tough market; but it's also up to them to do their part and produce quality music and hits. I'm sure that some bands will be rubbed the wrong way but DAT7 has no apologies to make for it."
