------------------------------------------------------------
We had a talk with OLIVIER DURET about....well, read below.
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Do you believe that a lead singer of a band SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do SOLO GIGS while being part of an active band?
OLIVIER DURET: "That depends on different factors. If ur the lead singer and the owner, u could make appearances but not many solo gigs because that takes away from the band itself. But If ur a lead singer and just a gigger, u want/need to do those solo gigs for the exposure and also the money. Now if ur lead singer/owner of a starting band, those solo gigs will help people know u and ur music which will be good for the band."
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: IF Olivier Duret is part of a new band as an owner, that means the fans can also EXPECT to see you continue your SOLO GIGS? Correct?
OLIVIER DURET: "As a lead singer/gigger, if u wanna live and not just survive, ur gonna need those solo gigs and soon enough ur gonna have to do ur own, Or make urself indispensable so the owners make u an owner... Then if the band is established, u slow down on solo gigs. Yes, I would still do solo gigs, but maybe less to let MY band strive... But I wouldn't stop."
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: What do u do if promoters want to book you MORE than the band to play the songs on the band's CD...because they can pay you LESS than band? You know how some promoters are?
OLIVIER DURET: "The band comes first, no matter what... Now if ur a gigger, ud have to negotiate with the band owners on what can be done in regards to that...if i am an owner...Like I said, the band comes first."
