____________________________________________________________
Veteran NYC promoter RALPH RHAU of YOUNG QUALITY Entertainment talks about the AFTERMATH of the KLASS/NU LOOK showdown and what it means.
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: What does it mean for showdown winners usually? Is this a TEMPORARY GLOATING RIGHTS thing for Nu Look and things will go back to the way they were before with Klass packing venues and remaining the number 1 band in the business; or will this showdown performance hurt Klass, and open the doors for Nu Look to take over the top spot?
RALPH RHAU: "One thing I can say is to be the best you have to beat the best. Now se Jan Nu Look pwal jere that buzz li sot fe a ki Pou determine si lap take over the top spot.
Don't forget this is 1 show, and our ppl forget quick. So in order to keep the buzz going Nu look needs to keep that night as a reminder to the public. In the hmi the type of show that nulook put on Friday night is very rare. That's why the bal business is going down because the bands don't put those types of efforts to give the public something memorable.
The bal scene became repetitive. It's nothing new to the public so the interest isn't there as much because they already know what to expect from a band. That's why Klass failed this challenge on Friday because they came to play a bal. In other words to keep this going I'm not saying Nu Look needs to walk with an orchestra wherever they go, but give the public something to talk about from now on; which will keep the buzz going in order to get that top spot. Because 1 show isn't enough but only an eye opener for now."
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: If you are KLASS, you keep it business as usual and fulfill your full calendar and continue to pack the venues? Also, do they need a new CD or songs after this or no?
RALPH RHAU: "When you in business and that's a source of income for u there's no such thing as it was a show and ok move on. Because the talk will affect your business somehow. If Anything One can Easily Say that They Avoid playing With Nulook, or have such high demand (money wise) because they know nu look will give them a run for they money. So I wouldn't take it lightly.
A lot of people focus on the drama or "kiyes ki pwal vote pwen" etc etc. Reality is it doesn't have to be on that level. It could easily be a well prepared show, selective of music and your presentation. Right now honestly I think that's what the business needs to keep it going and interesting. When you good and have confidence in yourself "se pa kache or pa vle jwe avek on band ou gen issue or problem avel"; instead you need to face that band and show why you are on top or why you are that danm good. We have plenty of those opportunities to make the him interesting, but band yo waste those opportunities. Example Krezi/kreyol la. Now djakout/tvice etc etc. Paske yo focus plus nan drama; Olye de business la entertainment la and the fans.
Now as far as klass needing a new cd or songs, I'd say yes. Not because their songs are already old; but when u on top and in demand that means the ones that keep coming to your show at some point will feel again nothing new; or already know what I'm getting "kijan tel and tel music pwal sonnen sa yo pwal fe" etc etc. BUT When U Have A 2/3 CD TO Choose from, then One CAN Say They Dunno WHAT They Going To GET. Reasons why I felt Nulook had the edge is because of how many hits songs Arly can pull from his catalog for a night."

Ralph dissected and put the aftermath Klass/Nu-Look into perspective very well. The winner from Saturday is Kompa in the sense that we can produce something different and more entertaining to keep the positive surprise effect in the HMI.
Having said that, I am stats guy, so we will need to look at the numbers to see "A qui profite le crime". Who made a little bit of money, what will be deposited into such and such gigger's bank account after the labor day. After all, the orchestra or even the high chair on stage has a cost, but if nobody wins financially from the show, there must be side effects for future shows where guys like Richard Urbain can benefit, where Arly/NuLook, Klass or any band involved is pushing us to guess what is next in store.
Congrats to Richard Urbain who has proven his willingness to put big ticket events. I still think there are so many more out there (Arly-Gazzman, Nulook-Klass part II, Nulook Reunion tour, Zenglen All Stars). RU May have known about NuLook marketing plan for the show and did not warn Richie/Klass so there will be a clear winner (lol)
Congrats to Nulook and Klass for delivering. Both bands came from an excruciating Haiti Summer Tour and still were ready and well rested for the show. It seems Klass stayed an extra day or two in Haiti, did not get their mojo and clothes back in time (lol)
The clear winner is Kompa. Amazura was not Zenith Saturday, but it was pretty damn close and this is what the HMI needs. What next? keep the surprises coming _________________ My future's so bright I've got to wear shades |

He make a lot of sense. NL cannot give us another show like that on an ordinary bal cause it'll b too costly for the band. Let's no carry away.
As far as Band playing with other top bands Klass & Djakout should get the credit. The other top bands are guilty. Klass doesn't need a new city yet. |

Mr Ralph with all due respect The bal scene became repetitive and lack of interest : BECAUSE OF THE SAME LINE UP OVER AND OVER, START BRINGING UP COMING BANDS IN BETWEEN THE '' big dougs'' ,KOTE LA RELEVE YE LA. And stop the verbiage that continues to pollute any healing BAND VS BAND . SE KOMPA KAP JWE NOT ON MATCH BOXE
