 |
|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We received this OPEN LETTER from a SOUND ENGINEER in the FLORIDA market. Check it out.
Jean-Robert (BOB) Clermont: "I've been in the music industry of over 20 years and providing sound, PA System, for live band for about 8 years now. This a business I truly enjoy but there are some concerns and issues that make this job hard for me to continue. As the business owner of JRC Sound Productions one of my top priorities is to provide the best service possible and of course make a profit as it is for anyone who is doing business. It's absolutely disturbing the corruption, the lack of respect for the time, money and effort to provide quality sound for a band and at the end if the night have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR! This is starting to become a trend when I finish a party the promoter disappears without paying and I have to pay my helpers out of pocket.
Without "SOUND" there's no party!!! I feel that the sound companies are the ones getting the short end of the stick. We are the first one to arrive and the last to leave and at the end of the night to not get paid is just ridiculous. Bands are now taking a stand, if they don't get paid in advance, they don't play. In my opinion that is what we should do as well. It has been more than one occasion that the promoter has promised to pay the full balance and that is all i is: A PROMISE. NO ACTION. And they're probably bragging on how they played us! I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has had this issue with the promoters. At the end of the day it is a business and as stated in the beginning you have a business to make money. To make a 60-70 thousand dollar investment to provide quality equipment, sound and service no one in their right mind would do that all for no type of return or profit.
I feel as a sound company owner it is time to take a stand against this and we should all do the same: If there is no complete payment before a party we shouldn't provide our service. The bands have adopted this action and I feel that this is what we should do as well. It is the only way to ensure that we do not get screwed over.

I can feel the SOUND company owner pain. Sound is one of the most vital component for a party success. An issue involving a Sound Company and PROMTOER was happening last weekend n the NAPLES/FORT MYERS area where from what I heard the promoter allegedly left the party and let the sound man and the security staff hanging. Mwen pap bouskile promoter yo paske parfois promoter yo fe deficit nan yon soire.
Pandan ekonomi Florida ap monte( the housing market is growing), biznis compas ap bese. Bal numbers djazz yo ap baisse, promoter paka peye djazz, promoter gin balance pou media, member media ap plinyin. Soundman ap plinyin, Promoter ap plinyin yo pa ka fe kob.
_________________ Kite'l mache |

I'm sorry but am I missing something or are small claims courts no longer in existence...its become comical how people present their grievances to HMI Court aka Kompamagazine but they don't name their accuser nor do they actually take action against the person they had their business dealing with.
After 20 years in the business I would think Mr. Clermont has seen it all and therefore should know when he's being played or has a signed agreement of the terms to protect himself/business.
Antouka this is the HMI....let me grab a seat |

Konpaconvert,
The only reason they won't name these individuals is because they want to do business with them again..again......
personal story: I once want to redo my Kitchen/ Bath; called 4 different companies for an estimate. one of them was from my own people. He felt insulted that I was asking him to put everything in writing....I just said thanks for doing business with you...... and please don't comeback to my House........ $35000 with no contract . smh.. _________________ Douby,Hjoseph=singers;Mitou=gong;Carries=trombone;Judah=trumpet;Paul,Ceran=saxes;Tnes=bass;

Yon pwomotè k'ap fè yon party pa sipoze ap depann de lajan l'ap fè nan pòt pou'l peye ni djaz, ni sound company. Ou konnen ou pa gen ase lajan pou fè fèt, poze'w! |
