Mwen panse li tap yon très bonne idée pou jazz tenor yo ta remix youn nan ansyen succes yo te genyen nan album avan yo epi update li nan flavor ki pi modern, fe bel aranjman, remanyel epi metel sou denye album ki soti...
Mwen panse sa tap fe anpil fanatik du bien!!!

I disagree because

A) It would mean that they are trying to ride off of an older song's success
B) That also means MESSING WITH A CLASSIC. I am all AGAINST messing with a CLASSIC. A CLASSIC should remain the way that it first came out. You don't want to mess with GREAT MEMORIES.

I agree.... They can play it live but a remix, i'm against it. Certain sound that were used before are not used now. Got to protect the song integrity.

Menm leu se pa pou dat te yon classic, i'm sure Alan ka regret li fe yon remix "heavy kompa" nan menm album sa.

I dont not think it's a bad idea. Classic does have a lot of sentimental value to whoever had the chance to enjoy them when they hit the wave. Their kids and grand kids will never relate to that original song the same way there parents did. A well done and modern remix might bring new life to an original song, Which most likely might not have the same value to the peeps who loved the original and may not really hit the young folks. But at the same time we are talking about music, so we will never know until it hit you.

@KOMPAMAGAZINE....I DISAGREE WITH YOU BRO... I THINK IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE HOW FAR THEY WILL TAKE IT WITH THE NEW MIX, ALSO HOW THE FANS WILL REACT TO THE NEW MIX, OR WOULD IT BE ANOTHER HIT. EXAMPLE: TI JOCELINE REMIX BY TROPICANA/ RATON REMIX BY COUPE CLOUE..

GREAT POST BOBORI!

Art shouldnt be limited... Like Deutch said the little youngsters nowadays will never get to enjoy these songs the way we did with La familia Djakou, Se pa pou dat Alan, Olé olé Tantan, César System band, etc.... Not to mention Nemour and Robert syco! To avoid acculturation I think we should stretch Art and take chances to keep our 5, 10 and 15 year olds interested in our culture.....
Se sel DJ haitien yo ki all over the place le yap performe pou yo kenbe youngsters yo interested... Le Wal nan club panyol se mizik panyol yo jwe; jamaïcan jwe mizik jamaican; Afriken menm bagay but haitian DJs are the most versatile dJs in the world... That's an other thread.

Art should be FREE...

I disagree. Don't get me wrong; it's always nice to bring back memories, but that will not change the fact that some classics could never be duplicated. Top Vice (Robert Martino) used to drop one on every CD from either Gypsies, Scorpio, but the connections were more nostagia then attracting the new generation. Zenglen (Brutus) with "an nou alez" did it few years ago, no impact whatsoever. In fact they didn't even put them in their live repertoire. Richie did the same thing on his solo CDs ( Dejean, DP express) still same results. See a classic will always stays a classic, but bringing it won't benefit nor satisfy no one, but the old generation.

Great idea. AMI artists do it all the time and it works for them Fabrice Rouzier did it with Haiti twoubadou, we know the results of that.
I say go for it
