*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Your HMI music idol of all time is WHO? Tell us why
JEAN MAX VALCOURT: "My HMI music Idol is Fabrice Rouzier, I just happen to love everything the man does since the time Istarted doing music until now, I was always influenced by his work and also admire his humility...
My all-time HMI Idol is King Kino... a game changer, like him or hate him the man is a true all-time Haitian superstar. His behavior and attitude whether its in good or bad ways are pure Rock Star like, he dares to bring things that has never been done in the Industry and still hasn't, he created a school that gave our music industry so many superstars today... His style of music, his way of singing, his charisma and stage presence inspired so many... To me I don't think any Haitian artists past or present has yet reached the level of King Kino's superstardom or lifestyle... Just my opinion. he's the only one who has reached such level of superstardom, the way you can portray a true rock star from their attitude, behavior whether in good or bad ways.
Not that we didn't or don't have other Haitian superstars, That's why I mentioned that Kino's school has created so many of our todays superstar, but in this HMI he's the only one who has reached that superstar life style the way you would apply it for an American superstar."
MOISE HERARD Tempo: "Antoine Rosini Jean Baptiste alias Ti Manno. This guy was ahead of his time. His socially conscious lyrics still resonate today. He was not afraid to confront the inequalities and other social problems of our community head on. I have the utmost amount of respect for this giant of a man."
BOB DOLL (Gabel): "Lolllll mwen pavreman gen yon moun fix non , paske mwen yon jan m travay poum ka jwenn original Bobdoll la.men mwen gen " ELPOZO" depi mwen renmen misie depi le m fe ak manyen guitar m renmen tande misie cuz Poze Commercial anpil."
ALAIN FLEURINE (Former Beljaz):"Shoubou---> Se yon chanteur extraordinary. Non seulman he has the ability to reach very high notes, he is fun to watch performing live he is one of the most loved HMI performer around the world."
LEVELT VITAL (Awoze/Former Beljaz): "Laurent Ciceron from magnum band se 1er maestro ki montre m jwe sou patition et ki montrem jwe kontrebass nan on group troubadour nou te gen haiti ki te rele acoustic Roroli."
FRERO: "My hmi music idol of all time is SHOUBOU. I was raised in jakmel. There was a guy next to my house, he was a diaspora at the time. He used to travel to the USA, and he would have all the latest albums in the industry. Every jacmelian from my hometown jacmel knows him. He would play the music so loud, and he would play all the tabou combo songs "Paatricia bese bas", "Ti gason ou pa wew tro jeune", "Juicy Lucy".
Tabou combo was making shows like American mini jazz. Today when I watch soul tv, I understand where tabou combo got their influences. The way they dressed and the style they were playing. I was always amazed to watch the shows of TABOU COMBO playing @ ZENITH in Paris. SHOUBOU used to be a REMARKABLE ENTERTAINER. HE WOULD DO PUSH UPS ON STAGE, HE WOULD BE CRACKING JOKES ON STAGE, HE HAD A WAY TO DANCE JUST WITH HIS SHOULDERS. HE HAD A SPECIAL MOVE WITH HIS LEGS. ATISS SHOUBOU KONN BAY MOUVMAN PYE KASSER A. LI GEN MOUVMAN LI SEZI A TOU...DEUX MAINS NAN MACHWE. ONE OF BIG JOKES OF SHOUBOU ON STAGE would be "DEPI W MANDE HAITIAN MOUN KI KOTE YO YE..YO TT REPONN OU YO SE MOUN PAUP...LOL MWEN MINM SHOUBOU MW SE NEG PORT DE PAIX. LOL. My favorite hmi artist of all time is SHOUBOU TABOU.
Tabou combo put compa music on another level...International level; not just the bal..Eteinn lumye...Epi fe nwa..Gouyad peze..klere boucle ceinturon. They put konpa on an international level by making shows. They used to travel a lot. REMEMBER QUERIDA PANAMA? SHOUBOU used to brag about it..SHOUBOU KONN DI NOU FAIT LES 5 continents."
MONEY G:: "AZOR and EDDY FRANCOIS. If I have to choose 1, I would say Azor. I'm in love with the Rassin music it's natural."
JIMMY DANGER (Disip):"Gazzman Couleur. Gazzman se dye kompa direk. Mwen fini."
