KOMPA MAGAZINE had a chance to talk to DISIP bass player SEXY BEEF. Check it out as he talks about several issues. Read it below.

1) How did SEXY BEEF first get involved in music?
SEXY BEEF: "I was introduced to music through the church....at age 7."

2) Was the BASS always your instrument of choice? Was it the first instrument that you started playing?
SEXY BEEF: "No, it was Drums first, Bass, Keyboards, now Guitars."

3) What made you decide to make the bass your MAIN instrument?
SEXY BEEF: "The Maestro at my church made me want to play it..."BECAUSE HE WAS SO BORING AND NOT UP TO DATE"...lolllll "old fashion". But I love them to death and still have a lot of respect for him."

4) How did you make the introduction to the Compas world? How did that come about?
SEXY BEEF: "After playing in a local band in Boston, a good friend of mine by the name of Moses Ulysse, and the late great Rubens Maignan, called up Tantan of Lakol, and the rest was history."

5) Do you have any brothers and sisters? If so, do they also play instruments?
SEXY BEEF: "My father and his brothers singed and played instruments.
Mom played a little guitar as well."

6) Can a musician make an honest living on an HMI paycheck alone or not?
SEXY BEEF: "Lol...No they would definitely need a side hustle maybe studio productions or a 9 to 5 job."

7) Why does BOSTON not have a popular HMI band on the market like NYC and MIAMI do?
SEXY BEEF: "That's a very good question....There's some good players in Boston they need to put their heads together and do something serious and the people of Boston will support them."

Cool What's wrong with DISIP? You have a kickass CD. Many say you are one of the bands playing the best LIVE...but nothing is showing for it. What's wrong?
SEXY BEEF: "We just need to focus, re strategize and go back to the original plans and stick to it and be the BEST BAND IN THE HMI."

9) What makes a great HMI bass player? What's YOUR secret?
SEXY BEEF: "Wow..thanks Pat, but for me it's being humble and keep searching for new materials to practice and the key is to practice something you DON'T LIKE...because that's when you learn the most."

10) Which HMI bass player currently active in a band on the HMI scene do you ADMIRE the most?
SEXY BEEF: "Tines of System Band.....still grooving."

11) The myth is once you know how to play the guitar...IT'S EASY to play the BASS or vice versa. What's the truth?
SEXY BEEF: "Some truth to that because the same E,A,D,G strings are found in both guitars and bass, but when you get to the technical part of playing it's very different."

12) What makes GAZZMAN so special as an entertainer and person? You know him well.
SEXY BEEF: "He has a distinctive voice, the crowd control, the singing for a whole tour and not losing his voice or hitting a bad note, and as a person he really cares for people."

13) The HMI town with the BEST LOOKING LADIES in the crowd....PICK ONE CITY!
SEXY BEEF: "Boston Cheri....City of Champions babyyyyyy."

14) The HMI town that you know won't hesitate to put the band in their place IF they are NOT playing on point?
SEXY BEEF: "Fon Parisien, Haiti...excuse the spelling. Lol....we (DISIP) was running late for the show and when we walked in some guy pulled my arm and started screaming at me and telling me that we better play until 6 am OR else he will shoot and burn the club down...Lollll but I laughed and continued walking towards the stage......Smh....Lollll."

15) How did you get the name SEXY BEEF?
SEXY BEEF: "It was at a house party. I was being teased by a group of females and my good friend "P Willy" of "Klassic" a new band out of Boston called me that."

16) Which musician in the HMI is SEXY BEEF's "BEST FRIEND"?
SEXY BEEF: "Tantan"
