 |
|
KOMPA MAGAZINE: Your opinion on T-VICE and the changes that they just went through recently. Will it have any effect on the band, or will it be business as usual once the ship settles/
JUBE: "Pat, I am not very much involved with T-VICE & their personal matters, but T-VICE is a band that I respect very much for their work ethics and their organizational structures and business tactics. I believe they are also a Hall of Famer kompa band, because they kept it together for over 20+ years, and in this game, that's more than a lifetime, and they have produced some major hits and entertained fans all over the world for years.
Having said that, I was a little disappointed with the way they dealt with the departure of the musicians, specially Gerald Kebreau (Bassist) I mean, this guy is a serious cat Pat, dude chose to ride with T-VIce for 17 years while his Academic degree collected dust in his closet, that's utmost dedication, and I feel T-VICE should have gone the extra mile to make sure his departure was very amicable and not let Gerald having to put out a statement about why he left. He was a pillar in that band in my opinion, after 17 years of service, a good employee which he was, should get rewarded on his way out, not badmouth by management.
Again, I don't know the inner dealings Pat, but there are always 3 sides to every story and also when it comes to the rest of the musicians, things didn't have to go that far, I think egos got in the way, and people just reacted without thinking. I don't think this will happen to every band in the business, but it's probable for bands who don't respect their musicians or giggers. For me Pat, I can live without love from the entire world, coz my family loves me, but respect, I demand that categorically.
As for T-VICE, they going to be fine, nothing can break T-VICE but their own internal implosion, they are set, they don't even need to be focusing on putting out pictures and tweets about how many people they doing in france, canada etc...coz they are above all that ...they just need to remember one thing "What goes up must come down, the same people you see on your way up, are the same people you will encounter on your way down, laws of physics! Stay humble!"

Malgre Jube pale tankou yon diplomat pandan l'ap voye ti pwent, men li fe anpil sans nan sa'l di yo. Koze Gerald sa ta sipoze fe, nenpot moun ki ta gen anvi al jwe nan T-vice, panse 2 fwa. T-vice pase a kote nan dosye sa e li fe anpil moun we yo yon lot jan. |

Gerald had his flaws, li te gen ti defo, but the guy was in the band for 17 years. Regardless of what he might have done or not, 17 years is a lot and his departure should have been handled differently. _________________ Bat Chyen An Tan'n Met Li

Well to me, that was by far, the biggest disappoint of the year. I admire T-vice because of their tenacity. To me and to most other people, they are the HMI measuring stick. (Carimi is becoming more and more the HMI reference point, btw)
I have seen so many bands use T-vice as their dream band to copy. Their formula has worked and is still working. But the treatment of Gerald Kebreau took me by surprise. I did not expect that and still can't believe!
Now that being said, I'm not going to scold these guys. They have done a lot for the business as a whole and we cannot forget that! Yes they were wrong, but let's not forget their contributions to Haitian music as a whole. They worked hard to be where they are today.
But I think the public eye is on them and they need to fix this. Not by posting photos of bals etc. I think the best way to fix this is to create an internal campaign, which focuses on turning TVice into the best HMI band to work for.
Details of this campaign do not need to go public. The only public statement I'm expecting to see is when they interview the new drummer a year from now, he would say that he is extremely happy with his treatment and that he feels at home in T-vice!

Lets hope they change...coz, if after 17 yrs of contributing to a cause, and thats the end result? Then, whats even more important, and i think Jube touched on it, is; it should serve as an example or eye-openner for other mesene miziyen giger sayo ki bezwen al kale poste yo!! Bondye fe nou we Vice nan Vise, neg yo jwe toutivice!!!lol |

Now this is the Jube we all know and love.
All bands have their problems and no one is perfect. Thus, I agree that Gerard’s situation (and the man himself) deserved to be dealt with in a more honorable and private light. |
