We got this response from Boston promoter BEDLET in regards to GAZZMAN saying that he backed up PATRICK FABRE 100% in his dispute with the 2 Boston promoters.

Min list kob neg yo te pran nan mim mwen gin tout receipt la sel receipt ke'm pa ginyin se 750 dollars mwen te fe nan event lan paske se cash mwen te peye fab jou soir sa.

Premier kob fabre pran nan mim se 2,000 dollars mwen gin receipt sa. 2eme kob la pandan Disip tap jwe nan lantana ballroom se te yon lot promoter ki tap fe fete sa, fet la pat fe success pandan mwen nan travay, patrick fabre ban'm mim 50 calls jou soir pou'm te pot kob pou li... ginle misye te bezwin kob pou'l peye musician yo, mwen di misye mwen pap ka vin'n bal la pou'm kob, miusye force'm pou'm pote kob la pou li mwen di fabre mwen bo'w 2,000 dollars deja baz. I understand the money issue between band and promoter. However, the two of them have no one to blame but themselves. I know this sound harsh, min si pa gin sitirans pa gin vole. I am somewhat disappointed of the primitive ways bands and promoters conduct business in this industry. A thousand and hundred dollars here and there, no wonder they are all confused. I also do not get meetings in a parking lot, and securing BAL dates at an event. How can there not be confusion and problems. I do not claim to know it all, but start with the basics.

1. Meeting preparation & location: Why not rent a meeting space if you do not have an office. A restaurant is also ideal, request a private area, and go over every detail without missing a hinge. Phone conference is also available if you are in different corners of the world.

2. Paperwork: If you cannot afford a lawyer and accountant, be smart with your money. Before you give a deposit, get your paperwork ready. It requires no fancy writing except that the date, name of the people/business involve, the condition, the amount and the agreements on if either party does not follow the conditions.

3. Make your money worth. If you have a registered business (band and promoters), keep track of your expenses receipts and all for your taxes. Then again, some of you are probably avoiding that altogether.

I hope there are some lessons learned in all this craziness.

That's the way these guys are conducting business this day and age? No wonder they're always have unnecessary problems in the etchemay.

MusiQ, you're on point! Some promoters/band managers do this. But the majority of them don't. It's not that they don't know better, but they make a choice not to so they can get around things.. falsifying the amount of money received, leaving the door open for negotiations or last minute cancellations to play for bigger opportunities, etc
