A couple of HMI insiders are worried that the passing away of NYC BIG DOG promoter COUNTRY, has now open a space for different factions of promoters to try and flex their muscles on the dates that HE used to have control of.
One promoter in QUEENS told me this "Now that COUNTRY is not here, you have different crews that are trying to push up on the dates that he used to have control of. You have some that used to be associated with Country trying to keep his dates as theirs, and you have others in the game who now see an opportunity for them to add the dates that Country used to command as new ones for their calendars. There is a little tension building and I am afraid that it will spill into some sort of HMI war. I hope that is not the case. But how does the saying go again, LEU CHAT PA LA...RAT PRAN KAY...and that is what is happening here right now. They better watch it and try to not let it escalate."
