SHEDLY ABRAHAM has a gripe against DJS and radio announcers because he feels that they are not pushing upcoming bands in the business enough.

SHEDLEY: "All of the top bands in the business are at about 35 years old average in terms of the main members. Do you realize that in about 5 years if we don't support the upcoming bands like U-TURN, KARIZMA, CRUZ LA, that there will be a void in the market? PA GIN JAZ LA KI PREPARE POU PRAN LA RELEVE NON? Why are radio announcers charging upcoming bands to play their songs? YO PA MINM GIN KOB MINM. I give these bands love when they come to my studio. I charge them just a little because MWEN GIN KOURAN POU'M PEYE, but I don't charge them like I charge a band like Carimi. DJS are just going with the popular bands instead of also supporting the upcoming bands."

Pe Shed,
Your comment makes any sense at all. Age got nothing to do with music, as long the top bands keep on producing new and good materials they will will be fine even if they will be in their 40's and up. What about band like Tropicana, Septan etc..Lot of these guys are in their 40's but their organization is steady, they pay their employees regularly, they grew with their fan base etc..
FYI band like Karizma, U-turn, Cruz-la etc don't really offer an alternative so far they are just creating a little buzz within their area but no major impact that could change the game for them. They are all bunch of copy cats. For example when Ska Shah, Tabou System were in they top game in New York, upcoming band like Zin, Phantoms, Lakol did offer an alternative with their music.

That is funny Shedly said that because a friend and myself were talking about same thing over the weekend. There is a lack of talent and creativity in the HMI. most of the popular groups are made of older musicians with no new talents in site and we are wondering why the new generation is not that much into kompa. I do fear for the future of this industry.

When was last we heard a new sound and something completely new?

I have no issue with innovation but the new kids on the block got to bring their own sound not copying Carimi.

They all want to sound like Carimi and Carimi as far as I am concerned, has no real soul konpa music, it's too computerized. Nonetheless, I listen and jam to their music but there is something missing in their groove.

Until the new talents bring their own style and sound, I am not impressed.

The upcoming bands need to form a united front and pledge not to give a penny to Haiti radio hosts. Even if they get the cash from the upcoming bands, they still play the popular bands songs more for free.

UPCOMING BANDS, sispan gaspiye kob nou bay neg radio Haiti yo ki pa sou bor nou. le yo komnase broke, yo ap pan form ko yo... Laughing
