*KOMPA MAGAZINE: A 6 song CD every year or 12 song cd every 3 years?

FABRICE ROUZIER: "Cds are dead Pat. I thought you got the memo. It's not the lack of cds that's crippling the market, it's the lack of good songs. The songs are mass produced in order to make a CD. It's no longer the true soul of the performers that come through. There is a blue print for Konpa recordings these days. Yon dous, yon cho and in order to make it substantial, the artists put 13 to 14 nonsense tracks just to sell volume not quality???

Everything is copies of previous clichés, no real originality and that's why they don't work. Konpa needs to go back to the drawing board. For one thing shut that damn computer down and rehearse with the WHOLE band not just one dude in front of a laptop. Nothing wrong with releasing just ONE track and making sure that it is the absolute best track.

The business model has changed drastically thanks to Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple) and co. Musicians , specially Haitian musicians cannot take advantage of the internet to sell their songs. Too much piracy...The only way for us to make money is by performing. The other side of the coin is that in order to get gigs, you need a solid hit song."

KM!

Yep another good one here

some of our band my keep taking what lots of
people been saying for Granted. but liltle by litle
it's comming true. People are not really going
out anymore. Not much Cd's ect ect .

Did like Alan approched as well but don't really have
faith that it will work the way he would want it to work
especially if He's not going to push it . Internet might be
Great but not lots of us Haitian use it to his Potentials so
not peeps going to know about it and the one that Do will
share anyway.

Anyway .. li le' pou yo leve' pied yo or it will be too late on them

he couldnt say it any better... in the past it was easy to remember several megga hits @ any given time... now most songs are forced to be called hits... remember "webe" mizikmizik, "ole ole" lakol, "nananan" zin, "aux antilles" tabou, "seza" system, "ti poul" fantom, "ti bway" skandal, "la pesonn" boulo_syto, "fkd" zenglen, "wdysyl" nulook etc... we had reasons to go out in mass... but now the so called hits dont do these psychological effects on us anymore. it's true jazz yo produi plis biznis ke "soul" epi punto.
