The Haitian President Michel Martelly, with Vice President Nguyen Manh Hung of the company Viettel, the CEO of Viettel, of the Ambassador of Vietnam in Cuba, of Charles Castel, Governor of the Central Bank, member of the Board of Natcom, Robin Padberg, CEO of Voilą and other representatives of business sector and several parliamentarians, has proceeded yesterday at the official launch of the services of the of the Haitian-Vietnamese telephone company Natcom.

60% owned by Viettel [cie Vietnamese] and 40% by the haitian State, the Natcom [ex Teleco] is the fourth mobile phone company to enter the market after Haitel, Comcel [Voila] and the Digicel.

The Head of State announced that the interconnection requested for months by the customers of the Natcom is now a reality, between Digicel and Natcom, although negotiations are ongoing with Digicel, according to Yves Armand, Deputy Director of the Natcom.

The President Martelly stated that the Natcom will contribute to the development of this sector and also welcomed the new telephone company for its humanitarian activities such as assisting the victims of the earthquake of 2010, Internet services for schools and special rates on mobile services for students, the police and the poor.

In his speech, Yves Armand explained : "...we signed a contract on September 1 last year and today, September 7, a year after we are ready to officially begin the commercialization of products Natcom [...] after only one year, the Natcom has become the largest telecommunications network in Haiti. Indeed, with over 3,000 km of optical fiber already installed [connecting the various municipalities in the country], 1,000 BTS (Base Transceiver Station) and 1000 antennas are installed, the Natcom can proudly say that today it is the largest network of Haiti [...] today the Natcom has more 2G and 3G antennas across the country that all other operators combined.

The Natcom will offer free Internet in all public schools in the country. Over 91 schools are already receiving Internet services of the Natcom for free and the company offered free of charge to all university students in the country, 50,000 SIM cards for their educational needs.

The Natcom with the contract that it signed with the Haitian government, has the vocation to be not only a commercial enterprise, but a national company in phase with the country needs. It will help the people of Haiti, the Haitian government, all institutions, the health sector to have better communication quality and of highest level.

The Natcom wants also help the government to better manage, monitor all activities at the country level and has decided to give to the Haitian government, 30 video conference rooms. They simply tell us where to install them, as soon as the new government is formed [...] 3 of these rooms are already installed."

"...The Natcom is the best and largest network of Haiti", asserts Yves Armand stating that the Natcom is the only company to cover the ten departments and the totality of haitian municipalities. According to him, the installation of 1,000 BTS across the country is a number 30% superior to all BTS installed by Digicel this last 10 years...

The new company intends impose itself thanks to technological advantages and its aggressive marketing.

"Innovations that wants to bring the Natcdsom are at the level of the exploitation of optical fiber, the telephone, the DSL, high speed and high bandwidth Internet," indicated Mr. Armand. Moreover, via the submarine fiber optic inking Haiti with the United States through the Bahamas, the company opens the Haitian internet work towards abroad.

According to its leaders, the Natcom is the first company and currently the only to offer 3G service. Natcom intends to lower prices of minutes of calls, "of 20%", according to its deputy director and introduce in Haiti of the social programs that have already been proven elsewhere.

The company officials have announced that the Natcom, will provide an additional contribution of 0.5 cents, than that already paid by other phone operators for the National Education Fund (NEF) created at the initiative of the Head of State

More that one month before its official launch, the company already had 250,000 subscribers, according to Yves Armand, and end 2012, the Natcom aims the two million subscribers to its cellular services.
