BELIEVE IT OR NOT: RAFRECHI -KASSAV (KASSAV OPENED THE SHOW)
Let it be a lesson for all the top Haitian bands that think that performing at any show before a lesser known band is a slap in the face to their stardom. Hours before the show, all the parties incolved agreed that Kassav will open the D.C show and that the Konpa band Rafrechi will be the closing act.
Kassav came on stage shortly after 10 pm and they rocked the place especially by playing most of their popular songs in medley formats. The band which is in their 33rd years of existence has a full repertoire of hit songs well delivered on stage that most bands on planet earth can't compare with, or even dare to perform live after the legendary Caribbean stars. Rafrechi took the challenge, delivered...and most of all...did very well...
Rafrechi came on stage at 15 minutes past the hour of 1 am, and they did what Rafrechi do best which is dropping the Konpa an gran moun. The band kept the show alive until 2.15 am to conclude their well practiced one hour show without missing a beat.
The bands performed for a very happy and large crowd for a Thursday night show. The public sure got their money's worth because the show got very good sound, smoke and light shows, as both the Konpa of Rafrechi and the Zouk of Kassav were dropped at the Crossroads Entertainment Complex to the delight of everyone in attendance.
To all the bands fighting, doing cry baby, or even hiding in order to perform last because they feel that they are simply the best or have seniority...just remember this date in Konpa history “August 4th 2011 “ when Kassav opened the show “Rafrechi -Kassav” at the Crossroads Entertainment Complex....

It must have been an Awesome Feeling to play after the Great KASSAV.

| Kassav played very well so did Rafrechi But the show was suppose to start at 9pm and kassav did not show up to the club till about 40 mins past 9pm. Chine kassav yo te gentan fe sound check pou Kassav depi deu ou twa heure de tan avan. Leu kassav finn jwe, 95% of the crowd left with them, Rafrechi te jwe bien en plus yo te gen twa medame ki tap dance sou stage la avek yo, ki pat vreman gen plas yo la paske pou mwen se grimas yo tap fe paske anyen pat choreographed, men se te yon bel koncep li te ye pou medame yo sou stage la but next time pran moun que domaine yo se dance. Overall mwen te enjoy tet mwen i support Rafrechi, et Kassav te kraze andedan club sa. |

The band will be at the Pre-Labor Day Fest in Long Island on September the 4th...because UNLIKE the international shows in Maryland where Rafrechi has been the closing act this year...the band may well be one the opening acts in N.Y. in other words if you care to see Rafrechi, you may have to go early to the show in Long Island since there is no other shows scheduled YET for N.Y and N.J for the Labor Day weekend.
By the way Rafrechi will be at another international show this upcoming weekend at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Maryland...Last month the band played at the Afro Diaspora Festival, this Saturday August 13th, Rafrechi will be at the FEST AFRICA.

Rafrechi officiellement djazz Washington lan...nice pics and congrats on the party.
Mwen renmn post lan net. Bands should concentrate on their own set instead of "djazz la kale nou poutet yo jwe en denye" ou menm konn di "djazz lan bay stage lan trop ta, moun yo te gentan fatigue"
