WHY DOES KASSAV SEEM TO BE MORE POPULAR IN THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY THAN THE ALMIGHTY TABOU COMBO? WHY DOES NOT TABOU RECEIVE THE SAME LOVE?
Saturday night, I was talking to Jean Rubens, OTORITE OFFISIEL. Tout moun kon JEAN RUBENS, ANIMATE SERIE.
During our convo, we discussed a lot of stuffs going in the HMI.
He mentioned TABOU COMBO and an interview he had with HERMAN NAU. Then, he popped the question: WHY DOES KASSAV SEEM TO BE MORE POPULAR IN THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY THAN THE ALMIGHTY TABOU COMBO?
He went on to say that TABOU WAS THE BAND THAT HAD STOPPED KASSAV’S PREDOMINANCE IN THE HAITIAN MARKET back in the 80’s.
We all know that even now, TABOU COMBO remains one the rare BANDS that can really give KASSAV a run for their money in terms of a show, spectacles ect…..
Why then, KASSAV seems to have the love of THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY while TABOU DOES NOT?
Is it a case of “JETE PA NOU RANMASSE PA MOUN”?

Despite a very good album just released by TABOU, It seems that they have some issues in the Haitian market.
Although kassav tours the US once a year, but every time they do that, most of the times, the tour is successful.
What exactly has happened TO THE ALMIGHTY TABOU COMBO? OR should I say TO OUR HAITIAN BROTHERS?

Kassav biggest strength is in the zouk market...
Kassav is loved and respected by all.. where in the konpa market.. a band like TABOU COMBO seems to be out of date.. because this generation does not show that they care for MONUMENTS like TABOU..
The support most come first from your own market/people.. in konpa we are working to destroy the name of legends instead of teaching the kids about them...

KASSAV LI MENM PAT TRAVAY POU SHORT TERM.. NEG YO TRAVAY POU LONG TERM.. MEN.. TRAVAY LONG TERM NAN, SE TRAVAY CONTINUELLEMENT..

That is the problem with HAITIAN BANDS. They do not believe in MARKETING.
Mon che, ou djazz tankou TABOU TA SIPOZE GEN OU TOURNEE TET CHAJE CHAK ANE ET PI HEAVILY MARKETED.

However, mwen panse moun yo apprecie KASSAV plis wi, for some reasons
TABOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE LOVED!

Before criticizing Tabou Combo, and maybe Magnum Band (wich I think fits in the category), we should find out how they are doing outside of the U.S.
If they have no success anywhere, they should look at what Kassav is doing and duplicate to stay alive...The opportunity is still outhere.

Mwen pansé kelkeswa sa TABOU fè ap toujou gen jan de observation sa yo...
Se pa on sekrè pou pèson ke HMI la pa fonktioné tankou tout lot industri.
Menm JACOB DESVARIEUX deja mandé koman on djaz fè ak frapé 3 ou 4 jou par semaine é preske NON-STOP pandan tout on ané.
DAPRÈ MWEN sé pa plis inpotans ke yo bay Kassav se plis le fèt ke yo pa performé souvan pou nou.
Pou Tabou si ou pa pran-l week end sa ou ka prann pi devan on lot week end.
Tandis ke Kassav si ou pa pran-l week end sa ou gen pou tann 1 an ankor.
É li pa menm sur ke yap tounen nan ville ou a lot ané.
Gen on provèb ki di: Depi vant chat plen ke Rat anmè...
E bien se sa problem kek moun ak Tabou.
É si Tabou ta komansé pa pèfomé souvan...
Ou tap tandé ke neg yo pa serieu é ke ou peske pa tandé yo.

menm kan Tabou ta rekoumanse maket tete li nomalman, anpil nan nou ap konsidere Kassav kom pi bon pase yo..

men c enteresan nou enteresan...
