Haïti ouvre la porte à l'ancien président Aristide

Le gouvernement haïtien a émis lundi 7 février un passeport diplomatique pour l'ancien président Jean-Bertrand Aristide, offrant à ce dernier la possibilité de rentrer dans le pays dont il a été chassé par une insurrection armée en 2004, a indiqué un responsable haïtien.
"Le passeport a été émis lundi. Toutes les formalités ont été accomplies", a précisé un responsable sous le couvert de l'anonymat. Le passeport doit être remis à un des avocats de M. Aristide, Me Ira Kurzban. Ce dernier, basé à Miami, est arrivé ces derniers jours en Haïti à cet effet, selon la même source.
DEUX EX-PRÉSIDENTS DE RETOUR
Exilé en Afrique du Sud depuis 2004, Jean-Bertrand Aristide a longtemps affirmé avoir été chassé du pouvoir sous la pression des Etats-Unis et de la France. L'ancien président avait affirmé fin janvier être prêt à revenir en Haïti, avec un objectif "clair", selon lui : "contribuer à servir mes frères et sœurs haïtiens en tant que simple citoyen dans le domaine de l'éducation".
Si ce retour se confirme, M. Aristide, toujours très populaire dans les milieux défavorisés, serait le deuxième ex-président à regagner Haïti après Jean-Claude Duvalier. L'ancien dictateur "Baby Doc" a regagné Port-au-Prince le 16 janvier après 25 ans d'exil en France.
