Here it is. 36 Artists/Bands competing to become YOUR first "NEXT HMI STAR" winner. Here are the rules.

*KM Members get to choose THEIR TOP 5 and depending on the position assigned to the artist/band by the KM Members in their votes, they will get a certain amount of points.
1ST PLACE=15 Points
2ND PLACE =10 Points
3RD PLACE= 7 Points
4TH PLACE= 5 Points
5TH PLACE= 3 Points
KM MEMBERS WILL HAVE UNTIL JANUARY 5 TO VOTE

***VERY IMPORTANT: Once a KM Member votes....YOU CAN'T GO BACK ON THE POST TO EDIT IT. If you do...YOUR VOTE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED***

PS: MEMBERS registered AFTER THE CONTEST BEGAN....will NOT be able to vote in this one.

Whether you like the song, the potential of the artist, or a combination of both, or perhaps you see something...IT'S YOUR CALL. Choose it wisely.

We would appreciate it as I am sure the artists/bands would, if the members DO give their opinions AT LEAST on the 5 TRACKS/SONGS that they are putting in as their picks. POSITIVE & NEGATIVE will be appreciated. If you choose to comment on MORE than those 5 songs, or perhaps all...IT IS UP TO YOU....Would be nice..BUT You are not obligated to do so except for the 5 songs. Nothing major...just your opinion. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

*While the KM Members are voting, WE WILL ALSO HAVE CELEBRITY HMI JUDGES/MUSICIANS voting on the contest at the same time as you guys. Their results will be revealed after the voting ends, and you will get the chance to see their comments. THE POINTS ASSIGNED TO "THEIR" VOTES WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE KM MEMBERS. They will ONLY get to pick THEIR TOP 3 and their points will be like this
CELEBRITY PICKS
1ST PLACE= 20 Points
2nd PLACE= 15 Points
3RD PLACE= 10 Points

***THE TOTALS from both THE KM MEMBERS VOTES as well as those of the CELEBRITY JUDGES will then be added up, and from there IT WILL DECIDE THE NEXT HMI STAR

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS...THE SONGS ARE BELOW!!!!

KM MEMBERS...MAKE US PROUD!!!!! Please DO NOT LET FRIENDSHIPS OR ANYTHING ELSE INFLUENCE YOUR VOTE as you would be doing a disservice to the music industry and to those who truly deserve the break. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are trying to discover new talent, and we appreciate you very much in helping us achieve that goal.

# 30 TI MOUN A ZION-----TON REGNE

Powerful message, very nice track, good vocal , great lyrics I like the ragga muffin vibe...it's clear if the lyrics on that track was in english it could have crossed to the AMI easy with a good promotion of course, in my opinion its the best song of the bunch...I rate that one 5 out of 5 stars
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
# 28 THE MISSING U SONG----------SARAH JANE What a beautiful ballad, very smooth, a suave melody, her soulful voice reminds me of chrisette michelle, the track is a lil bit too short, I am feeling that track for real, that artist could cross over to the AMI if she is exposed to some big dogs in the game, she got it all, the look, the talent, and the voice, perfect combination for success...I grade her a solid 5 out 5 as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
# 8 DE-OD------LEVE PYEW

This is a pure zook track, I like the fact that he chose a style that compliments his vocal range and his style, kind of reminding me of THIERRY CHAM, had this track been better arranged; it could have been a dj's favorite at zook night and parties
I rate this one 4 out of 5.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#16 K-MISTRY --------POU LA VIE

The name of the group reflects the style of the song, there is a fusion in the track, it started as a zouk vibe ; one could easily says that track sounds like KWAK, then around the 2:05 mark it changed into kompa direct, my only problem with the group the vocal of the lead singer is not not that good, but overall its a solid track;
I rate this one 3 out of 5 stars.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
# 17 MARK MENARD---------------VIENS CHANTER

Unplugged style a la maniere de ANSY DESROSE, He is definitely a raw talent, his variation and his powerful vocal reminds me of the latter, for some reason i dig this track, its very inviting for a slow dance and to sing along hence the title of the track "viens chanter"...my only problem with this song; the artist made the crucial faux pas to sing in french, in my opinion he litterally murdered the language, atis la fe trop siret Razz
I rate this one 2 1/2 out of 5 stars

N.B. OUT OF THE 36 SONGS I SELECTED 15 TRACS THAT I THINK WERE WORTHY ENOUGH, AFTER FURTHER REVIEW I MADE MY FINAL CUT; THERE ARE SOME GREAT TALENTS IN THAT BUNCH, GOOD LUCK TO ALL Cool

These are my top five:

I.

11) FABRICE FOMBRUM "Jou Ma Merite'l"

Vocal : The delivery is on point and very good.
Lyrics : The lyrics are well written
Arrangement : The arrangements on this song are quite good this is not your typical “son la-ri”
Fabrice Fombrun is my number 1 because he presents something original.

II.

1Cool MELODI "Sa Fe'm Mal"

Vocals: Vocals are descent.
Lyrics: Lyrics are ok
Arrangement: Although the second part of this song sounds very familiar I’m adding this song as my number # because the beginning is original enough and the piano solo at the 1:22 mark won me over. Furthermore, I cannot stop humming the song.

III.

26) PERRI PIERRE "Gratis"

Vocal : Mr. Pierre has displays some great vocals on this track.
Lyrics: The lyrics are on point and many can identify with them.

IV.
2) ANGELO "Competition"

Vocal: The vocal is ok.
Lyrics: The lyrics talk about the current state of the HMI.
Arrangement: I like the fact that he’s willing to take a chance and sound different; it has a konpa roussi vibe to it.

V.

2Cool SARAH JANE RAMEAU "The Miss U Song"

In my book, this is the number one because everything is good about this track vocals, lyrics and arrangement however for some reason I think Sarah graced us with half a song if not an incomplete one.

#16 K-MISTRY --------POU LA VIE : Musiciens yo tres talentueux si yo jwenn akadreman yap rive lwen.

27) ROSEMAY "YOU'RE My Baby": This lady is very talented. Song and vocals are excellent. She reminds of Princess Georgy when she was in Zin.

25) PAOLA "Mwen Inme'w": Poala is a great singer, she just needs a good producer.

2 SARAH JANE RAMEAU "The Miss U Song": I just love her vocal..

Thanks Pat for bringing new talents out in the open. I really like the idea!

My top five is the following:
1)VALERY PRECILIEN "Chagrin Lanmou" I can feel the emotion in the artist's voice. Sounds really attractive! With this kind of voice, girls just have to love you...

2) BNICE "In Da Club" ____Great work!!! I would dance to this beat all night long.

3) SARAH JANE RAMEAU "The Miss U Song"_____Sexy Voice! She is good!

4) TI MOUN A ZION "Ton Regne____Great topic!!!

5) ANGELO "Competition"_____He took the biggest risk ever!!! An up tempo song? It takes balls!!! Some vocal coaching is necessary but he did good.

There are some other good songs out there but I can only pick 5...
Good job everyone! May the best song win...

1. FABRICE FOMBRUM "Jou Ma Merite'l"

What can I say; this is a great piece for an upcoming artist. Lyrics and composition are on point; it has a jazz feeling to it.

I wanted to find a great Kompa composition. However, this is the most unique composition out of all the 36 tracks.

Fabrice, how dare you put a track like this out knowing that the “son la ri” phenomenon is in full effect. You have balls my friend coming to a competition with a not so popular tune.

I choose this as my number 1 because it has all the ingredients needed. Lyrics, sequencing, delivery, and how all the different parts come together. He has a good voice also.

Good relaxation music.

2. ANGELO "Competition"

If you’re looking for a real heavy uptempo track base heavily on groove, this is the track. However, so many groups have taken on this subject and it’s getting redundant. He has the ability to compose a better track in my opinion. I think he has talent. But, he chose the wrong subject and I felt like I’ve heard this before.

3. BNICE "In Da Club
This track has the beat and all the ingredients needed to get the club moving. Great beat but I’m a little disappointed with the lyrics arrangement. He could have spent more time on the lyrics; I felt like he rushed it. However, nowadays a track like this won’t do as well as compare to 15 years ago. But it has potential. It sounds like a New York base group some years ago called 702. It could have been a 2 then; but I give it a 3 today.

4. UNIT KREYOL LA "Konsey Pratik"

Rap Kreyol has a strong presence in Haiti; I figure these guys could give it a run for their money. I’m really feeling this track.

5. MODERNSOUND "Instrumental"

Why not?

Modernsound made it on my top 5 because I see something out of this. Can you imagine DJ’s start producing real track in the HMI? It will be good to the industry. However, I felt like I’ve heard this beat before. Good initiative.

Great initiative KM - some raw talents here. It was tough picking my top 5 out of 36 choices. Music is general as well as personal, here's the top five that touch my soul based on Lyrics/message, vocal delivery, beats and commercial appeal.

1. GUES "Leve Wale" #13

2. CED "I Want Your Body" #6

3. UNIT KREYOL LA "Konsey Pratik" #33

4. TI MOUN A ZION "Ton Regne" #30

5. PERRI PIERRE "Gratis" # 26

Paola, G-Faro, Angelo, Detay, Oxygenband, Valery Precilien, Will Drey and Sarah Jane Rameau. I applaud all of you, because you have good materials that need a few arrangements here and there to make it great. Keep on keep it on!!

1 - VALERY PRECILIEN "Chagrin Lanmou" # 34 (this guy has a unique voice, both singing and vocal ability)

2-CED "I Want Your Body" # 6 an other singer with a great voice and sing with ease

3-SARAH JANE RAMEAU "The Miss U Song" # 28, I think there is true talent with this young lady and in top of that she is pretty, king of remind me Erykah Badu ( referring to her singing ability here but Sarah is way pretty than Ms Badu)

4- DE-OD "Leve Pye'w" # 8, true talent right there, but not sure what band he can fit in (maybe solo artist??)

5 -MICHELLE THELAMOUR "Source La" # 20, she can easily integrate into the HMI

Ok whew..finished them all and after some first listens, seconds, and thirds, I came up with my top 5 and with #1 being the highest.

#1- Metod -"Jardin Varite"-like the zoukish slow vibe to it and the vocals were nice. Good luck gentlemen

#2-Detay- "Assure'm" could've been my number one as well but that little reggae part turned me off but other than that they were a close contender.

#3-Melodi- "Sa Fe'm Mal" good song and I liked it. They have potential and they look the most put together out of all the groups. Their introductory picture to the board works for me and the song is nice as well.

#4- Fabrice Fombrum "Jou Ma Merite'l" Glad that he doesn't have the typical compas sound. His bluesy/jazzy vibe is nice and he's a looker ladies Cool Smile

#5-Young Cast "U Can Take Me". I like the reggae/ragga/hip-hop vibe on this song. I can see him doing a couple of songs in the HMI/AMI.

Honorable mentions in no particular order;

Modernsound-I loved the instrumental, I really did but not having someone singing or whatever to it just kind of took away from the song for me.

Rosemay-"You're my baby" I could've sworn we've heard from her before but helas. Either way her song has potential.

Sarah Jane Rameau-"The Miss U song" what happened to the rest of the song babes??

Will Drey ft. Mylah- "Puppy Love" the song was nice and Mylah's vocals were nice but the song sounded to similar to one of those TI collabos. Either way best of luck to you, you guys sound promising.

Ok those are my choices, Good luck to all the participants. An additional note, remember that these are just opinions and if you don't succeed at winning this contest, it doesn't mean it's the end. I'm sure with hard work and determination any of you can make it. Thanks for the effort ladies and gentlemen. Very Happy
